Case to be heard by SC. Could lead to the end of democracy.

My summary: NC GOP wanted to redraw house districts in 2018 to benefit their party. A computer drew 3,000 possible maps. They picked the one most likely to benefit their party.

The gerrymandering worked. Despite the vote in the state being almost even between Dems and Reps, they won 10 of the 13 seats.

The NC Supreme Court said: you can’t do that. The GOP has taken it to the U.S. Supreme Court hoping for them to rule that state courts cannot override their actions.

Of all the posts we go back and forth on, this one is a legit issue for the future of our government and no one even comments. SMH.

Because there really isn't a lot to say here. The GOP is disenfranchising people all over the place. The Trumpers can't claim Obama or Clinton did it or Biden is doing it now, so they keep to themselves. And they can't admit that it is bad.

Drawing congressional districts that stretch halfway across a state just so that it will favor a specific party or minority worse. Peoples vote counts no matter what district they are in, how does that disenfranchise anyone??

I think they should draw up nice square districts with the same number of citizens in each district without regard to political party and be done with it
It helps them win control of many state government seats so they have control forever, which is their goal.
I've been saying forever they should not be allowed to jack around with congressional districts. Divide the state kinda like HS districts were when we had 4 classes. As near to being 4 squares as possible and let the people vote.

If the vote is nearly 50-50 and one side gets 10 seats and the other gets 3 a whole lot of people have voted but been disenfranchised from being represented.
