Built up as the top opening round game the matchup at the Family Arena in St. Charles lived up to its billing needing overtime to find a winner. Derrick Morton hit a shot just before the buzzer to put the Spartans into overtime. In the extra frame junior Brennan Hughes did the rest scoring 8 of his game high 30 points to lead the Spartans to a 65-64 victory. Senior Xavier Boone added 16 points for the Spartans who will now face former NCMC foe Rock Bridge.
De'Shuan Cooper who entered averaging 23 points per game for the Warriors didn't disappoint leading his team with 33 points.
