Yesterday he told reporters that now is not the time to panic and then let another quality reliever get traded right under his nose Herrera and Colome 2 weeks ago as his non panic answer is to bring Holland up who has yet to have a clean inning at the AAA or AA level. But hey Holland said he has fixed his mechanics. Then later in the interview he said he thought they would concentrate on bullpen help at the trade deadline. LOL You can't make this stuff up!.

His bowtie is too tight. Herrera for the Nats 10th best prospect and a couple low level throw ins? Wow, sure woulda been nice to see the Birds compete with that. That's a Sosa-type and two dudes we've never heard of and probably never will. For a lights out closer. But instead, I get to watch Matt effing Bowman for 60 more appearances. Mix in a little Cecil too. Fun!

7 hits and 5 walks in 7 innings across three levels in the minors...seems fixed to me! I've seen enough of Holland, Lyons, Cecil, Bowman, and Gregerson to do me for a while...Brebbia, Gomber, Hicks, Tui, Norris, Mayers/Gant, and bring up either Helsley or Hudson. Maybe two of the four of Mayers, Gant, Helsley, and Hudson can serve the Bowman role. Brebbia, Hicks, and Norris are going to have to be the answer for the late innings.

My bad, missed the other guy on the top 30. Makes it seem steeper, I guess. All relative to their farm system I suppose too. Makes it harder, man...Herrera sure seems more viable than a Machado rental/system purge. Just not in favor of that. And the Nats gave up zero young arms.

Colome is under contract and did not cost the Mariners an arm and a leg. MO probably didn't like the way he wears his cap. Kind of like wearing a bow tie! If you are going to improve your team you have to be willing to give something up.

Little bit more steep, but not outrageous. I'm really baffled by the sudden..... cheapness??? Of your front office. I wanted the Cubs to go for him, but it wasn't a real need. The Cardinals have a serious bullpen issue.

So I'm just as confused as you

I think many Birds fans are right there with you...and me. I get MO likes to bargain hunt. And right now he’s having to swallow loser contracts like Waino, Wong, Dejong (lesser extent, but still no production), Fowler, Cecil, Holland...and one of his bargain bin specials, Gregerson, is worthless. Literally the only contract worth a damn has been Mikolas, and granted he’s been a steal. But they are getting a ton of production from young arms. A place where normally a lot of money is spent. Problem is, their “big” splash signing is hitting .170 and spends as much time tweaking his Twitter as he does his swing. And MO and Dewitt seem a bit gun shy to try to solve those problems.

I guess when you have so many weaknesses to attack it makes no sense to try to fix them all. After all they got 3 million tickets sold

I agree except for DeJong. He can't help he got HBP and he was leading the team in HRs and playing solid defense.

Herrera is a total stud and yes the Royals got low balled in that trade. However, he has had some forearm/elbow issues off and on over the past couple of seasons. He has a rather "violent delivery" and I wouldn't be surprised if he blew out his elbow.

I wouldn't say low balled. His 2017 killed some value.

They need to capitalize on the stupid low contract Moose signed and get back a decent prospect. Dump Gordon, Duda and Hammel for warm bodies.

You're stuck with Sal Perez. At least he offers defensive value still....

I don't know what you guys did to Dex.... But I hate you all for it. I really hate to see this happening to him.

He’s doing it to himself, me thinks. At an age where skills start eroding. Last in, first out, acting if things will fix themselves. And has always seemed to be butt hurt over not leading off and now not playing CF. Both sides are pretty well stuck with each other at this point too.

But see.....he means so much to Cubs history now, I can't blame him for anything. Which leaves me with either the Cardinals or their fans to blame:D:D

Honestly though, I never expected him to fall apart this much. I thought you guys would get .250\.340 Fowler, not .170\.200

Moose will be gone no doubt... Gordon's contract may make him "undumpable." They will probably just give Duda away since they want to stick with Hunter Dozier at 1B. Believe it or not, there has been some speculation around here that Salvy may be traded. How empty will Kauffman be after all of these guys are gone ? :(

Luckily with Gordon, it's only 1 more season. There is someone who can use a quality defensive OF with the possibility of SOME offense.

Salvy looks run down. I get that he's the guy there, so you can justify keeping him around. But man....he looks brutal with anything not involving sitting behind the plate

If Duffy wouldn't have imploded on himself, he could have gotten KC a very good return....

Duffy is a good guy but also something of a head case... You never know what you are going to get from one start to the next.

I could see Salvy possibly going to the Nats as well... they really need a catcher since Wieters is out long term.
