Machado cheap-shotted Aggy at first base. Now Mo can justify not going after Machado. Mark that one off the "we made a serious offer but came in second" list.

Yes lets maintain this as Waino's team. He helped us win a championship in 2006.

He certainly seems like a punk. He doesn't have a good rep with other players. One particular guy is never the only answer. I doubt he ends up here. I won't be disappointed if he doesn't.

Like clock work.

What's wrong with having players with character and positives in the clubhouse over cash cows that cause dissension? We weren't that far from the playoffs...I'd love to see a middle of the order stud be brought in, but reality is that people are going to way overpay for him if he keeps up his playoff hot streak and they end up in the world series!

Has thrown his bat at a pitcher during an at bat

Openly just said he's never going to be a guy to hustle and give any extra effort

Has had multiple questionable issues, such as last night.

I hope you guys give him a mega deal. Please do it. Redirect all the BPV money to him......and Waino

Twitter was ablaze last night with former players that basically said he's dirty and this sort of stuff is what he does. It's a bad look, for sure. Then again, the mid-80's Mets weren't exactly the cleanest bunch of fellows around. They seemed to do okay.

I take it all back

Spend all your money on Rick Ankiel.....again
I actually like this move potentially. It won't cost anything, and I'm just dumb enough to think he can be effective. There are some REALLY freaking bad lefties making a living in the MLB. If signing Ankiel leads to a DFA of Cecil, I'm pushing all my chips to the middle of the table.

Dude lost any interest I had when he went off an umpire on a called 3rd strike when the box showed it was clearly a strike then he kept it up when he was in the field still making gestures about calls on hitters from the other team. No doubt he he is 1st class jerk!

I hope you realize that you just said in 2019 that you hope to have a pitching staff that includes Adam Wainwright ANDDDDDDD Rick Ankiel

2019..... Both of them.....same pitching staff

Makes you question a man's judgement.

Cecil, Lyons, Webb, Shreve, Siegrest, Duke, Gonzales, Sheriff, Kiekhefer, Cooney, Choate...just off the top of my head.

So yeah, I'll give Nuke a chance. I'd say it's a long shot he can get himself in pitching shape without getting injured, but it's worth a look. Not like he's going to cost anything. And the Waino thing wouldn't irk me so much if I didn't think they're going to overvalue what he can actually do. If he has a good spring and they slate him for the Matt Bowman/Brad Thompson/Seth Maness role, I'm good. I fear that won't be the case though.

I've had questionable judgement since about 14 yrs old. It has lead to some fun times. And long nights. And longer morning afters.

I hear Ozuna is not having shoulder surgery. If he is still throwing like a wounded pigeon in 2019, he is a flop.

Speaking of questionable judgement. Reyes needs a change of scenery from the Birds med staff. No surgery for Ozuna. Why do I feel like the Birds med staff uses one of these to make all of their decisions...

In an article I read it sounded like the Cards weren't all that thrilled with the effort Ozuna put into rehab. Mo said they're going to play closer attention to this off-season and how players show up in the spring. They did say possibly no surgery for Ozuna but he has a Dr appt soon and they'd know more then. My question is why has it taken this long after the season ended. I would have thought it was already decided what he would need to get it right for next year since most of this year was wasted. That whole thing was a little haywire as far as I'm concerned. If they knew he had an issue last winter why wasn't it addressed then. Maybe it was and he just didn't do the rehab like he was supposed to. But then why did he continue to play when it was obvious he wasn't even close to 100%. He's got a lot to do to win me over as a guy I want them to re-sign.
