The Kim Anderson apologists, while already looking silly, would just be foolish to defend him anymore.

But please, tell me I'm not "giving him a chance."

I wish I had an answer but I I like coach Anderson but something is missing.Sad thing
is what big time coach will come to this program. Afraid being 62 Mizzou will not see
the good old days of coach Stewart in my life time.

Quality loss, North Carolina is a good ball club.

The good news for KA is there wasn't anyone there to see it. He's probably safe because there aren't five people alive who care one way or the other at this point.

I saw frankie hughes and Van leer both shot like crap...live by the 3, die by the three.

Season isn't dead yet, but they better get better quick. If they finish strong, I think he's alright, otherwise...it is time for a change. NCC sounds like a Juco or high school. Yikes.

I have a lot of respect for Coach Anderson, but it really feels like this thing was doomed from the UMKC debacle in his first game. I plan to leave the Norm Stewart Classic this weekend for a couple of hours to watch Mizzou/Western Kentucky but I can't say that I am particularly looking forward to it.

Oh no! The same team that took Ohio State to the brink to lose by just 6! Wow...season is over. Cancel the remainder of the games!

Chill. If this is the rule, and not the exception...he'll be fired at year end. Then you can stop acting like Veer.

Uh, this has been the rule. We've lost 47 games in the last 2+ years. You think every one of those games is a loss to Kentucky and Kansas?

No, but I'm smart enough to know the issues facing them when this staff took over. And I'm open-minded enough to understand this team is EXTREMELY young. Also understand they shot 25% against a team that played tOSU wheels off. And that this season really doesn't have anything to do with the last two. If the same issues plague this team that did the previous two, however, then yes it'll be time to move on.

Kim Anderson's employment has everything to do with the last 2 years.

People walk into bad situations at their job all the time. If they're a good manager, they make the situation better. They don't run off their talented employees and and recruit worse people to replace them. If they're still having the same issues in the 3rd year with 0 improvement, you fire that manager.

Maybe Kim should recruit and sign players that can shoot better than 25% against NC Central at home?

The youth on this team was Kim's choice. First, he's lost older players to transfer every year. Second, he's only been able to sign high school kids. He's recruited juco players but they've signed elsewhere. Third, this is Anderson's 3rd year. Every one of these players is here because Kim wanted them here. If his players cannot beat a team like NC Central (KenPom ranking: 209) at home. Congrats, they hung with Ohio state. They didn't win that game. This isn't little league. You don't get milk and cookies after almost beating someone. You get even less when you lose, as Kim Anderson is mercifully going to find out in March.

Every coach that takes over a bad situation at MU will lose 20 games three years in a row.

Just ask Mike Anderson.

I don't disagree. I also didn't make the comment that it didn't. This season has nothing to do with the last two is what I said.

Coaching college hoops has zip to do with some other job. And not all bad situations are created equally. I fully believe FFH can create massive craters.

Or maybe the players that shot well against their other opponents should shoot better themselves. Gotta love you millennials when it comes to deflecting blame.

Correct, they are all his players. And they're young. But I believe he built it the way he believes it needs to be built to have successful returns on an annual basis. If the same problems exist this season (huge blowouts, lackluster effort, player defections) that existed in previous seasons, he deserves to be fired. Maybe Tulsa will be tired of FFH by then.

Maybe...just maybe...not all bad situations are created equally. And maybe...just maybe...these coaches have different goals. I have no doubt Suitcase wasn't building for the future as much as he was padding a resume to bolt for Arky. Just notice the roster construction one year after his departure. And I have zero clue what FFH was doing. I at least believe HCKA has a plan for annual success. Whether or not it will work is yet to be seen. Cue the whiners spouting his record the first two years...

It's an analogy. Replace manager with coach and employees with players and my point stands.

They've shot well 2 games this year, against Alabama A&M and NW state. They're 245th in the country in shooting percentage. These guys can't shoot. The stats are what they are. You blame the coach for signing players that can't shoot.

But I believe he built it the way he believes it needs to be built to have successful returns on an annual basis.
That's a nice thought. There's literally 0 evidence of his hope coming to fruition.

I'm certainly no insider but I'd bet they told KA when he was hired they didn't want anybody that caused trouble to be on his team, they had already had plenty of that. He got rid of some and some left. It appears he has recruited kids that won't be in trouble, that remains to be seen also. IF they put that kind pressure on him he is doing just what they wanted and hope the winning winning will come around at some point.

You get paid $1M plus to win basketball games.

You don't think Mizzou was tired of having the kind of players they had that were always embarrassing the school? They may fire KA mid season for all I know, but they just may be glad no one on his team has done anything real stupid yet.

That's certainly part of it. But it's not always all of it.
We are talking about High Major college athletics here... 99% of it is winning games. Look across the power 5 conferences football and basketball programs. Coaches get fired for wining and losing. Nobody cares at that level how great your kids are off the court if you aren't winning. Do administrators want your kids to stay out of trouble...Absolutely! But do they excuse losing because your kids don't get in trouble absolutely not. This is a money driven business, and nothing produces money like winning. Make no mistake about that.

Lots of coaches win games and do it within the rules and with kids who stay out of trouble.

If you think anyone actually cares about that more than winning though, count how many fans you see at the next MU home game. You probably won't even need to use all of your fingers and toes.

Coaches winning lots of games while staying within the rules in a Power 5 conference? ehhh...

If all they cared about was staying out of trouble they could find someone to do that for 100k a year.
I didn't say it's ALL they care. I said maybe they want to clean up the mess before they worry too much about winning. I have no doubt if he doesn't win soon he'll be gone but they did have a mess the he got there.
