It has been awhile. I watched a state play off game there in 75 or 76, when Parkwood was strong. Do you really think that will happen again?

WIth a 10,000 seat stadium and plenty of hotel space, I would lobby for it until it happens.
I am not sure who/where Seneca played. I know we nearly froze to death watching Parkwood play that day. If memory serve me right, the bears were playing Sullivan that day.

These renovations are a long ways down the road yet. If and when it happends, I do know the Joplin Sports Authority is aggressive and I would assume they would offer a competitive bid.

They hosted the state title games for a couple of years back in the mid 90's. It was right before the dome opened,

Parkwood beat DeSmet in 75 at MSSU.
Memorial beat Sullivan in 76 at MSSU.
1A and 2A games were there in 95.
In 75, Seneca played at John Burroughs.

Hey, I like it at Springfield too. Although I think Central Missouri could probably host a couple games on a weekend, probably not more than two games.

Despite my Kansas City bias, after they get the renovations finished, they need to have some state championship games there at Missouri Southern. I've had too much fun going to Joplin for sports. There are lots of places to eat, and plenty of hotels. The city can handle several huge youth tournaments all at the same time.

Southern needs to get rid of the track and make it a football-only venue.

They can’t get rid of the only thing that is successful in that stadium......
Football only stadiums...if they move the stands up...are awesome . I grew up with one in my town. So cool to be just a couple yards behind the sideline. In a 10,000 seat stadium at MSSU it would be awesome.

They could keep the track and it wouldn’t be that bad. The true issue is the 50+ feet of wasted space between the stands and the track, which really increases the disconnect between players and fans.

Speaking of MOSO football they appear to be picking up where they left off last year, opening the season tonight with a 45-0 loss to Nebraska-Kearney

Even the Joplin sports show picked them to loose by an average of 27pts .....they we're being nice because nebraska Kearney is awful

Glad no one mentions Northwest for state championships. Too busy winning national championships. #OABAAB

I have no idea where they are in the process of funding the stadium project, it's been on the drawing board for years. They have completed the field house and the scoreboard might be done now? But the remaining parts will be the most expensive and it seems like a tough sell given the state of the football program.

I too am I huge fan of this. Especially at places like Seneca. I hope they never change that stadium

I’m personally in the camp. Playing all 7 of the title games at different sights. Kinda like KS does. That way everyone can host a game every year. I would love that. And maybe then MSHSAA will let outside broadcast companies do some of those games online and free. I hate that you have to pay to watch state title games.
