Been eagerly waiting for this because I didn't see anything preseason. This week will be a great early measuring stick for several of these teams particularly in the larger classes. Like C6 pretty much as is. C5 not sure I'd have PH South in the rankings and would really, really like to hear from someone in the STL area who may know about FZ North. C4 not so sure about Platte County (lost a ton) but the next two will tell a lot about the Pirates. Yet again this year (third in a row) watch Ladue Horton Watkins. Their D could be best they've fielded to date. Will leave the smaller three classes to those much more in the know...............

I don't care about the silly "schedule comparison" stuff. What continues to fascinate me is the continuing growth of those towns (now suburbs) of Springfield. Part of the rationale of MSHSAA waiting until just prior to the regular HSFB season is the other side of this: don't know year to year how many rural schools will either drop to 8-man or the sport in its entirety. MO essentially is a microcosm of what is going on across America.

umma Chillicothe is 0-1, not 1-0. Love my hornets but we graduated entire offense, all but 2 on defense, kicker, punter, deep snapper, holder, retired head coach, all but one assistant coaches retired//heck even the two radio broadcasters retired....and someone gave us a vote for top ten. Interesting research they did lol

"]WebbCity's Schedule:
Carl Junction - Class 4* #9 in Class 4 (dubious)
Joplin - Class 6* #9 in Class 6 (also dubious...there at least 7 C6 schools in KC that would beat them.)
Neosho - Class 4* Not Ranked
Branson - Class 5* Not Ranked
Carthage - Class 5* # 6 in Class 5 (probably legit)
Willard - Class 5* Not Ranked
Republic - Class 5* Not Ranked
Ozark - Class 6* Not Ranked
Nixa - Class 5* Not Ranked

So THREE (3) Ranked Teams...two barely ranked at #9 LOL

Kearney's Schedule:
Harrisonville - Class 4
Staley - Class 5 #1 In class 5
Platte County - Class 4* #4 In class 4
Winnetonka - Class 4*
Grandview - Class 4*
Belton - Class 5
Grain Valley - Class 4*
Raytown South - Class 4*
Smithville - Class 4* #8 in Class 4

Blue Springs Schedule:
Chrisman - Class 5
Rockhurst - Class 6 #10 in Class 6
Lee's Summit North Class 6 #7 in Class 6
Lee's Summit Class 6
Ray Pec Class 6
Lee's Summit West Class 6 #3 In Class 6
Blue Springs South Class 6
Park Hill Class 6 #8 in Claass 6

Puulleease BABAHHAAHAA

I don’t think they’ll meet unless it’s in The State Championship Game.
Brackets (unless MSHSAA has changed rotation) are as follows for semifinals:

District 7-8 winner vs. District 3-4 winner
District 5-6 winner vs. District 1-2 winner

Blue Springs Schedule:
Chrisman - Class 5
Rockhurst - Class 6 #10 in Class 6
Lee's Summit North Class 6 #7 in Class 6

Ray Pec Class 6
Lee's Summit West Class 6 #3 In Class 6
Blue Springs South Class 6
Park Hill Class 6 #8 in Claass 6

Why are trying to compare Class 6 Blue Springs schedule to Class 4 Webb City's schedule. I thought your obsession was Kearney compared to Webb City!

And considering that there are only 32 teams in class 6 vs. 64 in class 4, wouldn't only a top 5 rank in class 6 be comparable as a % of schools in that class?

BULLSHEEEEAAAAT! Teams in ATL metro hafta transfer up, in order to play with the RURAL teams in Georgia, especially in the SOUTHEAST portion of the state. Where the best HOMEGROWN football in the NATION is played!

He knows that would be a losing comparison. I ran more simulations on his beloved Calpreps. From 2008-2017, Kearney was projected to beat Webb only once. Even one of the "powder puffs" on Webb's schedule is not so much of a powder puff after all. Calpreps projected that my beloved CJ Bulldogs would have beat not only Kearney last year, but also would have beat Platte County and Ladue Horton Watkins. Where is Flint when we need him???

What?

Well, look at that? Kearney would have the same number of losses that Webb actually had: 1. CJ over Webb (2016) 23-7. But I'd believe it when I see it.

[2010] Kearney (MO) 60, [2010] Carl Junction (MO) 0
[2011] Kearney (MO) 35, [2011] Carl Junction (MO) 0
[2012] Kearney (MO) 35, [2012] Carl Junction (MO) 21
[2013] Kearney (MO) 38, [2013] Carl Junction (MO) 31
[2014] Kearney (MO) 27, [2014] Carl Junction (MO) 17
[2015] Kearney (MO) 38, [2015] Carl Junction (MO) 21
[2016] Kearney (MO) 28, [2016] Carl Junction (MO) 21
[2017] Carl Junction (MO) 28, [2017] Kearney (MO) 14

I guess 4-6 versus the #2 dynasty isn't too bad??

[2008] Webb City (MO) 31, [2008] Blue Springs (MO) 28
[2009] Blue Springs (MO) 35, [2009] Webb City (MO) 27

Someone up around KC, please have active grief therapists available for Joey...... he may not be able to take Kearney being 2nd bc Webb

No grief counselor needed, Kearney was ranked lower than #2 in 2015. Remember? The real state championship game was Webb V. Harrisonville that year... bahahahahaa

Here is a little chart you can use to predict Kearney via the Staley game:
Depends on the result:

Kearney gets turbo clocked. Then they are like #9 or #10 in C4 and won't make it out of districts
Kearney not turbo clocked but loses by 21 or more. #6-7 in C4 Might make it to the quarterfinals.
Kearney loses by 14. or less. Next possible loss will be WC in the finals,
Kearney wins. See you Webb in the Finals.
Kearney wins by more than 14. Kearney, your 2018 State Champions.

It is that simple.

My first reaction was, good grief!

But upon further reflection, I realize now that once we get the results this Friday night of the Kearney/Staley game, it won't be necessary for you to post any further this year about Kearney.

It is as simple as that. Thank goodness.

Can we shut down the 9 or 10 Webb trolls now too? I promise not to, if they promise not to. Bahaha. Hell, I'm more into Raytown, Staley, Blue Springs, and some other schools anyway.

I won't call them by name, I will just call them "The Team with a 5-4 record against Webb." That way I can turn every posting into a Webb one.

What if key injuries happen? Nobody seems to ever factor in that possibility OR the fact some teams incur them and it depresses their "power ranking"............I've been doing what I still consider by far the most complex, labor intensive contest on this site but I never, ever use calpreps etc. just intuition combined with sometimes a whole bunch of reading.

Here is my question, How is Trinity #1 in Class 3 when they didn't even win Class 2 the last two years?

Recruiters rank them it seems like. It’s a awful representation of actual reality. On paper Trinity should be 3-0 since that class was brought to Trinity. All other rankings are more accurate.
