The team rankings for the MAC are as follows:

What are your thoughts on NCAA qualifiers for Mizzou ? They will not qualify at Hwt. but if the MAC takes five at 157, do you think that Barnes has a shot at getting out ? Other than those two weight classes, everyone should get in.

Hwt was a true frosh who was not ready for D1 wrestling but Coach Smith had no other alternatives due to some unfortunate recruiting problems at that weight. He had a very poor record. Did not make the Coaches Poll or RPI rankings and has no chance of winning his way in at the conference tournament against the competition that will be there.

You never know! Upsets happen! He might only be one win away from gaining the confidence he needs.....

I'd love to believe that but as Bruem said... He has no chance. The kid at Hwt. had to wrestle this season because they had no one else. It's a shame that he could not have been redshirted.
You are correct. D1 wrestling is a different animal and all the confidence in the world will not make it happen especially at this weight.

As a side note we may have a surprise at 285. Maybe a chance that Mizzou wrestles Cody Johnston from Warrensburg at this weight for the MAC. He will not qualify but may be able to help us with a win or two on the backside to help win a MAC title.

Who and where did the HWT come from? Did he have much success in high school?

Will you be attending?

Unfortunately can not make the trip to Ypsilanti, Mi. but will be at MSG for the national championships.
So I am curious. I have been looking at your past posts on duals. When I was in high school, duals started at a random weight rather than going from lightest, to heaviest. Is that the case in college?
Will anyone here be attending the Big 12 wrestling at the Sprint Center this weekend?

They draw for the starting weight. In some cases the coaches may agree to start at a weight rather than draw. The National finals usually start at the weight just above what is considered the premier match of the night so that it is the last match of the night to maximize TV ratings.

Missouri has

I just finished looking at today's results... What on earth happened to Synon ? Two and out !!! If you know what was going on with him, please share.

He wrestled two very poor matches. He is a blue collar guy with a lot of heart but is not the most athletically blessed. He has 75 wins in his career so far and has had to fight his way in the lineup
through a lot of grit. He has very little room for mistakes with his limited offense and it caught up with him today. He will get an at large bid to the NCAA tournament look for him to rebound and score some points for MIzzou at Nationals.

Manley tweaked a knee and he had seeding criteria over Mecate so no use to take a chance on further aggravating the knee. Mayes I have no idea maybe he had a bug or something. Yes great result for Barnes. Another very important win was Butler over Ottinger who had beat him previously .

I very much appreciate your updates and commentary on the Mizzou wrestlers. If possible, please continue with your posts at the NCAA. Being able to watch the tournament at MSG should be a very unique experience. I would love to be there.

I also enjoy your posts and commentary on Mizzou wrestling. What were the final results? Also, what ever happened to Alan Waters? Might be wrong on his name but his last name was Waters and I know he red shirted his first year but then what?
