I think so too. But he might have a bit more luck recruiting his type of a player out east. When he gets players that fit his system, his teams are pretty solid.Kind of an odd landing spot for Mike.
Exactly my first thought when I saw this.Kind of an odd landing spot for Mike.
He was scheduled to speak at the Las Vegas Nike Clinic next month before he got fired at Arkansas. I figured he’d probably cancel. Now that he’s been hired at St. John’s I hope he will still be there. But he may be too busy with his new job. I guess I’ll find out when I get there.
Good point. I didn’t even think of that ... obviously.I'm thinking the Johnnies may not be a Nike school. That makes it problematic.
For sure, he has done well for himself. He getting double paid no matter with the big buy out he received at Arky!
I like Coach A. His teams are always competitive and he does things the right way.For sure, he has done well for himself.
There are a lot of colleges that have not made the final four period. Being in the Big East and a lot of coaching turnover, I could see MA being in top 1/3 year in and year out and making the tournament each year. The conference is just not that good these days and MA will be in the mix year in and year out.I thought Herm Edwards would be a disaster at Arizona State, yet he had a decent first year. So, who knows what might happen with Coach Anderson and St. John's. His main problem will be the entire college basketball scene in NYC is dead and has been for a long time. Seton Hall last made the Final Four in '89. I don't think St. John's has made it since the 80's. Not to mention Fordham and Manhattan, etc. The Iona coach was smart for turning it down. He can get a better power 5 job in the coming years.
