Thoughts on the MEC....only positive thoughts on each team, because that is one of my beliefs..look for the good in people
CAMERON - saw them in a 7 on 7 tournament. Kids played enthusiastically and followed coaching instructions well. They want to snap the multi year losing skid and just might early in the season
CHILLICOTHE - Lost a lot of starters but led by a good Sr Class that includes sons of head coach and three assistant coaches. Return both good sized OTs and a 1400 yard rusher. First time ever they have a 6'7" receiver that might cause match-up problems.
MARYVILLE - they've been on a great run for several years and this one should be no different. Lost a lot to graduation but return speed including the MEC 100 dash champion. Heard rumors that one possible starter decided to focus on another sport, and two others may have changed sports, but those are unconfirmed. They're Maryville... they are the team the other 7 teams have to try and beat.
SAVANNAH - I Think they have a new coach.. have heard they have a very very good younger class of athletes coming up
ST JOSEPH BENTON - New coach this year, returns a good player that is there quarterback, team seems to of had a pretty good All City Jamboree.
ST JOSEPH LAFAYETTE - Led by a tremendous quarterback that probably will play at the next level next season
ST JOSEPH LeBLOND - Small class team in a larger class conference. Lost a lot to graduation but does return a few good pieces and led by a seasoned, great coach. They will be battle tested by district time
SMITHVILLE - They were extremely young last year and return most of the team. This is the last year for them in the MEC, so you know they will want to go out in style.
Good Luck to all of them!
Just my opinions, would welcome yours!

About Lafayette, Bernard at QB is playing at the next level. Just not football, committed to Northwest last night to play basketball.
had not heard that. Congrats to him! He's a heck of an athlete

I think someone in the MEC will finally knock off Maryville just not sure who it will be. Pure guess (barring a rash of key injuries) for this league in 2017: 1) Smithville, 2) Maryville, 3) Chillicothe, 4) Lafayette, 5) Benton, 6) Savannah, 7) LeBlond, 8) Cameron.
