MICDS 64, Hillcrest 34 Final Class 4 semifinal

Re: No way

And not only was their district changed so they didn't have to play each other early, the whole thing was changed so they couldn't meet until the championship game.

Re: No way

Class 3 boy had 2 private schools in semis and one won the title.
Class 4 boys had a private school in semis.
Class 5 boys had 2 private schools in semis.

Class 5 girls has a private school in semis.
Class 4 girls has 2 private schools playing for title.
Class 3 girls had a private school play for the title.

What percentage of schools in MO are private schools?

No advantage right?

Re: No way

2 of the 10 state champions were private (boys Class 3, girls Class 4). The excuse-making crowd/haters are going to have to find other reasons this year.

Re: No way

With the multiplier is there any private schools in class 1 or 2? Not many in class 3 and only one private school could win between IWA and MICDS.

Re: No way

I have mixed opions on this. I really don't think the playing field is even. The rule just are not the same. Private schools can get kids from anywhere and basically any time. Public schools you have to live in the district. If you could take the best players fron Jefferson county and make team then they would be hard to beat. I guess a good coach at a private school also has to be a good recruiter. My feeling are that they need to be seprated.

Re: No way

No they cannot get them anytime. If they come in as a freshman they have the one time transfer rule. To get unrestricted eligibility, they must move into the district the private school is located, and that still might not give them that unrestricted eligibility, especially if the school they are leaving decides it was for athletic reasons. There are some pretty good recruiters in the public schools too!

What district? 25 mile radius?

Re: No way

I did not realize that private schools have districts. So if I live in Festus can I send my daughter to MICDS? I dont think there is a rule about districts for private schools.

Re: No way

Yes, I believe it is a 25 mile radius. If your daughter is an incoming freshman she has the one time transfer rule, she would be eligible. If she is a sophmore going to a private school, to get unrestricted eligibility, there must be a move into the district of the private school, if not she would be ineligible. Just repeating what I was told.

Re: No way

In most places a "school district" that size would include 5 or more schools. A school district for public schools is ONE school and enrollment numbers determine which class they're in.
