They are reacting to the media scare and resulting panic of the masses that are scared, the NCAA/SEC/ETC. are covering their own Arses....nobody in this day and age will take responsibility for the Risks they take.... I gave you the numbers and the data. People are always scared of the unknown it's human nature.
So of course the Powers that Be are closing events because if just one person got the C-Virus after going to a Event then the LAWYERS and MEDIA would Blame anyone and everyone Involved, irregardless if that was actually the infection place.
Ignore the data and facts all you want I support your right to do so. And if you think the CDC/WHO are going to go in depth with any organization and go on record and take on liability and possible bad press and give a recommendation that doesn't error on the side of caution then you don't understand how this works.
The NCAA, Mizzou administration,the SEC are not going to be in the Loop or have special inside knowledge. Their reaction is purely based on emotion and fear of a public backlash not a actual threat.
Again 4,000+ people have died world wide. Not even reached the amount who have died this year in American from the Flu.
It's not a Hoax, their is a Minimal threat if you are over 80 pretty high fatality rate at 15%. After that not so much. Being Cautious is prudent, acting like this is the end of civilization or that Millions upon Millions are going to die is the politicized aspect of the whole thing. Shutting down events and whole countries is a reflection of how weak and mentally deficient the masses are because they are scared of minimal risk and worried about not being able to die of Old age suffering in a Nursing home!
The Powers that Be are just reacting to the Media and Public opinion and trying to look like they are doing all they can so they can maintain power.
In the end We will have the last laugh because the death toll won't reach Millions and will very likely be less than the death toll of this years strain of the Flu.

I get the caution to this virus. But I don’t think having March Madness without fans is actually going to stop anything. Unless they are going to shut down Vegas, all the bars with multiple TVs etc. Some buddies and I take a trip to Vegas for the first week of Madness every couple years and sit in a huge gambling room with thousands of people (this year we aren’t going, not because of the virus but because two friends had babies).
People will still go to Vegas or now they are going to go to bars instead to watch the games. I guess it’s a small step in decreasing the spread of it. But it’s going to increase the volume in bars and casinos for gambling.

It will stop nothing this is about public image and the PR game of appearing to care and being proactive....I will say this China did a great job of stopping the spread all over the WORLD with the measures they took, but of course being a Totalitarian gov. allows them to do things we won't stomach.

Just google it, they slowed the spread and infections points, making it easier to track and contain.
The past is a factor but the whole point of our actions is to create desired future outcomes. You can’t simply say “that thing that showed up December hasn’t killed a million people yet so we don’t have to care about it.” You have something that could kill a lot of people. Why would we not choose to take actions to minimize that?
Risk versus Reward simple as that. The risk isn't high enough to disrupt day to day living and enjoyment.
Also I'm not into creating desired outcome with overblown actions, I'm about freedom and living life.
And yes I can simply not care about a minimal 4,000,+ deaths World Wide in the Grand scheme of things. It's a non-issue compared to other Major Issue's. A blip on the Radar of the Grim Reaper.
I get it, the News is hyping it up. The Left is weaponizing it to Make Trump look like a buffoon. People love a good Doomsday Y2K,Maya Doomsday Calendar etc.
I wish people would put this much concern and anxiety into the Opiate crisis or Cancer etc.
Until this starts killing Hundreds of thousands why over react? I mean are you going to self quarantine your family? Stop going to Wal-Mart? Work? etc. Are we going to shut down the borders and stop people from coming into this Country from abroad?
If we are not going to take drastic measures, all this is just window dressing and a moot point on a statistical level.
The whole left right focus is mostly misplaced. Big companies and national health experts aren’t focused on that. They are focused on developing policies that keep people safe.
We have to acknowledge that the leading experts in this area are the ones pushing for substantive action. And corporate America is listening to them even in situations where it costs them money.
Big Companies are not focused on keeping people safe....they are profit driven pure and simple. They are reacting to this C-virus based on a possible PR nightmare plain and simple.Which I understand as business and Profit focused. At this point we are not even stopping visitation at Hospitals, we are not closing down movie theaters,bars, or restaurants. We are not quarantining areas where people have been infected. We have stopped Travel from Europe for what 30 days, and closed down the NBA season and are playing games without fans in College basketball. Oh and people are stealing hospital mask and wearing them around for a false sense of security.
I agree that the CDC/WHO are interested in keeping people safe. But even they are worried that the panic could very well be worse than the C-Virus. Clearly if those two organizations where in panic mode then the shutdowns and quarantines would be wide sweeping. They are not.
I think companies have a strong profit maximization bent but it's pretty clear from the actions of many companies that safety is a major consideration. AB didn't ban outside vendors from their campus because that made them money. Companies aren't canceling trade shows at a loss because it makes them money.
China did NOT contain it to it's borders so you saying they contained it makes NO sense!
They have called out the National Guard to keep a perimeter around New Rochelle NY where there is hot spot. One nursing facility in my town has gone on lockdown, no visitors allowed. The assisted living facility my mother in law is in says they will do the same if we have a confirmed case in this county.
Pointing at the scoreboard in the early stages of an event is a silly thing to do politically.
We know that 500,000 people had come from China to the U.S. prior to their efforts...after that the flow stopped. Did they totally 100% contain it? Nope but their efforts slowed it down. Stop being over emotional.
Not emotional at all just pointing out that they did NOT 'contain' it. They in fact lied and hid the numbers foes long as they could. If not for people other than out president the same would be happening here. he didn't want any bad news to get out but ti got too big too quick and others told us the truth. He has been exposed and won't say if he has been tested, we couldn't believe him if he did. IF he has we can't know the results either.
The Gov. and President was trying to mitigate the panic. The Panic and reaction is usually worse than the virus.
That is what we have now. Less than a 100 dead in American but we have shut down our economy, we have panic buying. Now health organizations are reallocating personal, staff and resources away from day to day health issues just to be ready for the wave of masses scared they are going to die from the C-19 with they have almost no chance dying the will over whelm hospitals. STD,TB, and other health related things are not going to be addressed or treated until this is over and that will actually be worse than the virus to the masses, going months with untreated or diagnosed issues.
But you know what I fully support your right to Panic, spread irrational fear and Blame the President who did his job of not spreading panic.

So you haven't seen that Italy had 400 deaths in ONE day from this and it's NOT just affecting old people like they first said. Until we test like other countries have we have no freakin idea how widespread it is already. Their are now 40 and 50 year olds in ICU with it.
