The Mexico Bulldogs ventured South on Hwy 54 a few miles tonight and took on the Fulton Hornets.
Both squads were unbeaten. The Hornets have owned this rivalry in recent years, but the Bulldogs
got the win tonight with an exciting 70 to 63 OT final and improve their record to 7-0... Travel to Bowling
Green Thursday for a G-B contest..
*Mexico has maintained possession of the football 54 Bowl trophy for several years..
MEXICO -- 15-31-50-60--70 (OT)
Fulton ---- 10-25-43-60--63
Isaiah Reams led the Dawgs once again with 21...

🤪 Welcome 2021.....C =|~

Composure Dogfather is the key to last night's game. A T and an intentional foul was 2 huge plays in the contest. I was by the radio announcer and they did not like the intentional foul call, but I thought it was a good call. What do you think? IMO it was excessive fouls to the head area.

.....With 13 bodies corralled in a small area it's difficult to see all the action and I didn't have a good
view of the intentional but the "T" in the heat of the moment cooled things off. IMHO if all the fouls had been called both teams would've had to go into the bleachers for JV players to complete the contest.
The game is getting to ruff. I'm old enuff to remember when you laid a hand on an offensive player you were called for a foul. The game has migrated to resemble Rugby and a talented baller is often forced to engage in combat to finish shot..lol
🥴👈💪🤪

*I took an old gent with us last night that cleaning his basement and came across a box of very old Mexico HS sports memorabilia that included a completed regional bracket Febr1948 in the Mexico gym with all the area towns. Columbia beat Mexico for the championship. He even had the two tickets punched for all six games... I scanned em... Enjoy the games.. C =}~

There were a lot of fouls, but what do you expect in a rivalry. I thought the refs did a good job. I dont say that too much. I had a good look. The kid contested the shot. Fouled him to keep him from scoring (good play), but then came down hard with both arms across the head area of the player to top it off. It was in frustration and a play that if it stopped at fouling him it would have been different. You can tell too, when a player does not argue the call, it was the right call. LOL
