Thanks for the update Bone! I’m glad to hear all of that. If those two guys changed with the times, I’m not sure I could handle it.

~~~~~Swish is still alive and kickin. I have exchanges with him regularly. He looks and acts the same as forever. Still comes in the side door and takes advantage of the hospitality rooms...lol...Thatz Swish...! C =|~

I talked to him at the 3R game at MAC early in the season. We always talk RR stuff, his boys both work for Union Pacific. Good to hear Metro is still around.

As a basketball fan, I always enjoyed Metro’s posts, whether I agreed with them or not. He has a passion that you have to admire and started so much conversation and debate. Shame that we struggle so much with respectful discussion and banter and tend to try and win a debate. Enjoy the opinions and laugh when you think they are wrong…or insane!

Yeah, my dad knew Matt when he first started. He spoke very fondly of him. Said Matt was one of the few “new bloods” that was still an old school RR guy. According to dad back then, weren’t too many of those left.

Always enjoyed the banter between him and the Sikeston guys. Missing all of them.

I miss him, too. Sadly, a few former longtime members have passed away in recent years.

I think Matt is the engineer the other is a yardmaster now. Swish said they're making those guys pull 12 and 15 thousand foot trains these days which is insane. They won't fit in any siding anywhere and when they go through a town it takes forever for them clear all the crossings. Not to mention how hard it is to stop one of those thangs.

I’ve enjoyed reading these replies. I don’t even know him or any of you guys personally/in real life—just thru this message board—but I’m glad I posted the original question. I know I’ve always enjoyed reading his (and other) posts over the years.

Metro coached at little bitty Richland HS just east of Dexter, Mo. back in the day. I don't recall if he said that was his first coaching job or not.
