Meanwhile, in the MIAA, NW Mo State. L 13-33 to Emporia St.?

Mssu damn near beat them the week before. Best washburn on the road Saturday which i dont believe has happened to often.
Yeah I heard MSSU was tied with NW in the 4th Q? Either NW is way down or MoSo is finally doing something right.

I guess when the coach is recruiting, and he starts tapping his championship rings on the table, the recruits will just roll their eyes, and think, "yeah...but they lost to Emporia St?"

I was a freshman in college the last time Emporia State defeated Northwest Missouri State. Transferred to Emporia after two years of junior college and my junior year (1996) was Tjeerdsma's third season in Maryville and you could tell the momentum was building for something special there. They made the quarterfinals in 1996 and have been a machine pretty much sense then. I have a ton of respect for Mel Tjeerdsma, every time I spoke with or interviewed him over the years he was nothing but polite, professional and honest. I enjoyed watching his teams play over the years.

Yes, but don't cross him if you don't want a statue of him up in front of the stadium. MIAA is one of the toughest d2 conferences in the country. There's few give mes.

Seems mssu plays them tuff at home until the 2nd half then nwms pulls away.

MIAA only has three teams undefeated after two weeks of the season, Pittsburg State and Central Missouri at 2-0, Emporia State is 1-0.
Pitt ran the table in the league last year, watched the home opener vs. Washburn and the defense looked good. Offense took some time to find its foothold but was better in the second half. Five teams are 1-1 and three are 0-fer. Still early and still an open race.

Whats mssu projected to finish this year?

#RECRUITING

Mel was successful in finding those fringe D1 players that major schools overlooked. He was a good national recruiter. During his successful years he had a roster of about 1/3 MO, 1/3 KS, NE, IA and 1/3 other states with alot of TX, FL, CA kids.

Last year's roster was about 45% MO, 40% KS, NE, IA and 15% other states.

I think 1997 is the last time MOSO beat Washburn on the road before last week. They hadn't beat Washburn at all since 2014.

I think it's a little of both. This MOSO team looks different than their other recent teams. Oline is playing well, and offense is moving the ball and torched NW on some long passes. The dline is MOSO's weak spot and NW exploited that with an 8 minute drive to win the game.
