I looked into this and it seems that if a coach nominates a player and the player is a senior...the nomination is approved. There is no prestige. It's an illusion.

Yeah we kind of came to that conclusion in the other thread. I originally thought someone who actually professed to know what they were talking about and had done their due diligence on the players made these selections. But then I saw silly stuff on the list of nominees, like 5 players from one high school being nominated and realized that coaches select their own players.

Seems like it would cause more harm than good for coaches to nominate players on their own team that aren't deserving. Especially when the average person doesn't know how they are chosen and given that it is widely covered in the media.

Prefect example of kids and parents’ perspective being out of whack!! Play because you love the game- not for the recognition from anyone else.
