Matheny will be fired during All-Star break

Could be but the bullpen has had an ERA over 12 in the last few games BEFORE today and it was a lot of different guys. Matheny didn't throw a pitch out of the pen. How much different does this game turnout IF Hicks makes the barehand DP on the ball back to him? As bad as he had been up to that point if he gets that 2-3, or maybe 2-5, DP it could have changed the whole thang! Kolten Wong sure didn't help the cause today either. Gets to the shot off his glove then throws it no where near 1st base, fails to cover 2nd on a ball up the middle that DeJong made a very good play on and couldn't get a decent bunt down with Marp on 2nd. A bunt has to be pretty bad to not get a runner from 2nd to 3rd. He can't seem to get the part about it being a sac bunt.
Wrong again. He was fired tonight along with both hitting coaches. Schildt named interim manager.

Well I guess Mikolas could have skipped his start tomorrow and pitched in the allstar game after all.
I have no problem with the firings but not one of those guys threw a pitch or attempted to play defense recently. Maybe the pitching coach should have been sent packing too.
Lot of blame to be placed all around but at the end of the day it’s easier to fire a manger and a couple coaches rather than a bunch of the roster. Don’t know what goes on with the attitude in the clubhouse but sounds like things have been rough. IMO At the end of the day it is a poorly built roster, thanks in part to a lot of signings that just didn’t work out.

Bench. Should’ve been benched long time ago. Hell, I’m about with Cards at this point. Mo should just man up and DFA him and eat the deal. Obvious the dude is done.
Bernie had a pretty good article on it at The Athletic. Said basically they hired him b/c they thought he'd be patient with the young guys, learn the advanced metrics (something TLR ignored), good with the media, and run a good clubhouse. He's been a failure at all. It’s just nuts when you think about all the games the Birds won even when he made insanely stupid in game decisions too.
