Marshall breaks a 21-game losing streak with a road shutout of the Hornets.
The Owls stopped a Chillicothe drive inside the 10 at the end of the first half to keep the game a scoreless tie at halftime. Marshall took a 7-0 lead early in the third quarter and threatened just a few minutes later after recovering a Hornet fumble on the ensuing possession. The Owls took the ball down to the 1-yard line, but fumbled it away, swinging possession back to the Hornets. It was short lived, however, as Chillicothe committed a holding penalty, and then suffered a sack in the end zone for a safety and a 9-0 Marshall lead.
Marshall added one more touchdown in the fourth to extend it to 16-0, propelled by a crucial Chillicothe penalty on a field goal attempt which extended the Marshall drive.
The Owls will play against Warrensburg next week on the campus of UCM.
