Whatever happened to Mario Whitney from Jackson, MO? Does anyone know what he's doing now?

Last I heard he had enrolled in classes at SEMO but that was some time after leaving Mizzou. Don't know what his status is today. Even if he is a student at SEMO, I don't think he was planing on playing FB.

I'm pretty sure I saw in the SEMissourian that he was playing football at a small college somewhere?

It was reported on here that after leaving Mizzou he enrolled at SEMO. He decided not to play for them and went to a Junior College. He is still there and is actually being recruited again by Mizzou to come back there when he graduates from the JUCO. That was several months ago.

Mario is playing juco ball at Garden City Community College in Kansas....is still listed on Mizzou's recruiting list....here is an article on Mario

Whitney to undergo ankle surgery

Garden City Broncbuster tailback Mario Whitney, who has missed the last two games because of a severely sprained ankle, is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery on his ankle today.

That, according to GCCC coach Bob Larson, who said Whitney will be out another 1-3 weeks.

"It's more than a sprained ankle," Larson said. "There's a lot of debris in the ankle, so he's going to scope it. Now unless the doctor gets in there and sees something on the bone itself, he'll feel better as soon as he wakes up."

Whitney rushed for 101 yards on 25 carries in the season opener against Dodge City on Aug. 28, but has missed the past two games. The talented transfer from the University of Missouri will sit out at least the next two games, Saturday's showdown at No. 2 Butler County and the Sept. 25th homecoming contest with Independence.
