Marceline 9, Brookfield 6 (Bell Game)

THREE consecutive single digits games both sides for Brookfield. Not sure that has ever happened. This was much closer than I expected thus why I left it off Pick Em.

Each year, when this game rolls around, I take the fascinating history book the late Matt Floray (one of this site's most prominent posters of all time and one of my KHS classmates/pals 1978-82) put together and mailed me nine years ago: Linn County Football A History (1896-2002). He was such an amazing statistician/historian!

Would love to hear from someone who attended yesterday and get a summary of how this low scoring game went.................

I didn't attend but followed it on KRES. Marceline scored twice in first half 29,34 yard field goals. It was 6-0 Marceline at half. Very little offense on both sides With 4 minutes left Brookfield scored the only touchdown that came from a Marceline fumble on it's 13. Game was tied 6-6 after missed xtra point. Marceline got the ball and had 4 first downs in the final drive to around the six yard line (only had 4 first downs in first 44 minutes) and as time expired hits a 23 yard field goal. Total yards was 133 for Marceline to 80 for Brookfield. 15 punts in the game 9 in first half.
