Looks like the SRVC is dead

High and dry? They are the ones that left everyone else high and dry scheduling 11 man games then dropping them at the beginning of the football season. As noted in the article, they also want 8 man lower level games which makes it difficult to develop players.

Their participation dictated the decision to drop to 8-man (just like it dictated their decision to go back to 11-man)

✌️
What conference will you create when Lockwood leaves you high and dry and drops to 8 man.

When this conference jump was brought up on here before I think someone stated that PC and Sar would stay together wherever they landed. Makes sense as neighbors and traditional rivals. Is this still the case?

Yes, the new conference supposedly will be PC, Sarcoxie, Miller, Diamond, Lockwood, Pleasant Hope, Ash Grove, and Marionville.

Thanks for the update. So the teams left out are Jasper, Liberal, GF. Who am I missing? You listed 8. I think the perfect conference size would be 10. Maybe 2 more petition to join?

Reminds me of the 1980's when the old Midwest Conference broke up. Back then, Lockwood, Golden City, Jasper, and Liberal were left to fend for themselves. History is definitely repeating itself for Golden City, Jasper, and Liberal. Will they look to the WEMO like they did before?

Should have just kicked greenfield out of mid lakes and added pleasant hope or Lockwood years ago then

I don't think any of those are ideal but they haven't hinted about 8-man let alone gone there. Greenfield never had any issues until recently.

Golden City and College Heights would be the other two SRVC teams not going to the new conference. Not sure if they will expand it to 10 or not.

Those cited were for football. Does anyone know if that is a complete list for all sports?

Hearing Jasper and Liberal to WEMO.
This changes the Mid-Lakes as well: Fair Grove, Strafford, Clever, & Forysth (football only) what are they going to do? Hearing Skyline and Stockton to the Ozark Highland Conference. Bolivar still out there looking for a home as well after the fall of the COC Small.

Strange to me that the new conference is not looking for 10 members, that way you don't have any open slots to fill in football. I would think that would make the most sense, unless they all could not agree? I know that is why the Big 8 looked to expand because teams were having a hard time finding two non-conference games.

I agree. I would wager that before it is set in concrete, they add at least 1 and probably 2 schools.

Clever was all set to join the Mid-Lakes. Maybe this changes that? That would make 9. Plus, it is a lot easier to schedule ooc when you're not a Lamar or Webb City. After being forced to play varsity 8 man or big school jayvee teams plus getting scheduled JV and Jr. High games canceled this is a good move for PC, Scratch, and Diamond, et al.

I thought Jasper might make the cut. They've always fielded an 11 man team as far as I know.

I wonder if Catholic and Hollister would reconsider leaving the Big 8 to join up Strafford, Fair Grove, Clever and Forsyth?

Lockwood voted to add avilla and south greenfield... motion was denied

I don't know anything but what I hear from old geezers.
What I have heard? They will not be interested in adding any of the schools now 'out in the cold'. The word seems to be that there was a lot of closed door /clandestine type work to make the break away from these schools. I have also heard that WEMO will be the hope for Jasper and Liberal. Though I'm sure they are less than happy about it.

I personally hope that Jasper and Liberal have great seasons in the winter and spring sports and beats their soon to be former conference members. Just sad that some of the SRVC schools are doing the same thing to them, just like in the old Midwest Conference days.

Not sure why some of these schools (perhaps the Wentworth duet) were so in on forming the SRVC? Seems they can't make up their mind ever on who they want to be with in a conference. Untrustworthy. The new league, Mid-Sticks, whatever you'll call it... they may well be unhappy with you in ten to 15 years.

They still have the rest of this year and the next two to take out their frustrations. Maybe they'll punish everyone by going to 8-man.

Made me chuckle. Agree or not, you have to admit that is funny.

Actually as of Wednesday Jasper should be a member of the WEMO and won't play any of those teams next year.

An old coach friend of mine told me Sarcoxie reached out to play a non-Conf game next year and were told to kick rocks..

As far as going 8 man i wouldnt be surprised at all. I've heard from a few kids wholl be seniors next year they have no intentions on playing football. I'll say ill be surprised If Jasper has 20 kids play next year... But kids say 1 thing then do another so Who knows.
