Rumor has it that Liberty's coaching staff received a special delivery from Lamar's donuts. Eleven creampuffs. "From your friends North of town. Enjoy," the note said. No comment from Clemens' staff on the subject. But LN better not be too cocky. Liberty is only a three point underdog after two solid wins. The resentment is building in the town between the two schools. This simmering animosity will boil over Friday.

Not an important game in the grand scheme of things on the statewide level, but a brewing rivalry makes for fun football. Should be an intense atmosphere.

It is to bad that they both could not lose...

As a Liberty resident this is going to be fun for the kids at each high school. William Jewell should be packed to overflowing Friday which makes for a great atmosphere. I do not know Coach Clemens but really like Coach Frigon and wish him all the best but I think the first message may be pretty accurate. Hope I am wrong but I think LN handles them pretty easy. Here is hoping for no rain for once so we can enjoy a full Friday night and the kids can enjoy a great high school memory.

I know Kearney people won't get too cocky...seems like I remember a loss from last year. Yep, one loss for the Bulldogs last year.

Your right, I was thinking about the (5) years before.
( 5 ) WINS...

Yep FIVE :)
Did not count big brother...
That would make ( 7 )

Kearney. 2-0 v. liberty
5-1 v. LN (but with extremely close games)

I stand corrected, missed the rain bowl game with Liberty.
Was busy that night watching Webb disassemble Rockhurst at home.

For the record...game one
Kearney (vs) LN 56-0
They have come a long way...

Creampuffs, Ha that's a good one. Way to stir the pot. Both teams seeing some good rankings this week. #4 vs #6 should get Jewell stadium a little crazy. Going to be a great game for the Liberty community to witness.

That's awesome and funny! Stuff like that is fun. And plus...Who in the heck wouldn't like a doughnut from Lamars???

Total: Kearney 264 points Liberty/Liberty North 112 points. That's what happens when a sprawling, diverse, suburban area schools plays a smaller town with a strong football culture, and youth feeder programs.

For those of us in the southwest, why is this the first meeting between the two schools of similar size and close proximity?

Liberty North opened in 2010 and was Class 4 for a cycle. At that time Liberty was Class 6. Then LN moved to 5 and brought in a Freshmen class for the first time in 2013. Liberty was still Class 6. Now they are both Class 5. But along with all that is being locked into Suburban conference schedules that didn't work out for a meeting. Probably some reluctance from the coaches or Admin on scheduling them?

Wonder how Jewell will handle the crowd? Don't think that LN fans will fit on the visitor side with Liberty filling up the home stands.

Not sure???
To tell you the truth, I want it to be overflowing.
Reminds me of playoff time! :)

Perhaps to be "fair" all Liberty fans should have to set outside the stadium on the hill.

This will leave prime seating for Kearney fans inside...

Maxpreps/Calpreps has Liberty at #6.
Greene Stadium has 7,000 seating capacity. This game will require people to be on the hillside.
