Liberty 24 - Cabool 20 (FINAL)

Cabool wins the 2nd half and shuts out Liberty in that half but in the end the bulldogs fall by 4 pts.

Cabool is 3-4 on the year now and have lost 3 of those 4 games by a combined 6 points

I think Coach Spittler wanted this one badly, big stop on the goal line by Liberty earlier in the 4th ends up being the difference. Was a really fun game.

Really wanted to make it to this game but had conflicts with work schedule.

Cabool could realistically be 6-1 right now, maybe even 7-0.
But hey, that’s why you play the game.

I think Cabool may have played last night without one of their RB who also starts at LB.
I’m not sure.

Now they get Ava next week, the only game of the year that I think they’re truly out of the league.

The SCA is way down this year. You have one good team in Ava. 2 really bad teams in Salem and willow and then a big group of teams that are mediocre.

I will say this, the Class 1 district with Cabool, Thayer, Marionville, and Portageville is a gauntlet for Class 1 this year.

Yeah I am very interested in seeing who comes out of that district. Normally I think the SCA schools have a huge advantage as they are very battle tested by the time they get to districts. This year I am not sure that holds true. But we shall see.

I agree.
I think Marionville is the real deal this year. And Adrian and East Buch bumping up took away the top 2 teams in the Class.
But it’s so hard to get a read on Marionville because of their schedule.

I remember in 2014 I think it was, Cabool was 4-5 headed into districts and lost the district championship by.. 4 pts I think to Marionville and the comets had to put together a last minute drive to win that one.
Cabool also beat Class 1 top 5 Lockwood by 2 TDs in the district semis the week before if I’m remembering right.

I think marionville is legit but how legit is the schedule they play…..I agree Cabool will a tough out for just about anyone

2nd half points given up by Cabool defense:

Week 1: 6 from Harrisburg (win)
Week 2: 6 from Skyline (junk time) (win)
Week 3: 0 from Willow (win)
Week 4: 0 from Houston (13-12 loss)
Week 5: 7 from Grove (7-6 loss)
Week 6: 0 from Thayer (28-12 loss)
Week 7: 0 from Liberty (24-20 loss)

19 2nd half points scored against Cabool this year and only 13 points against the varsity D.

That 24-20 loss to Liberty was probably the best game that Cabool has played all year.

Ava will beat Cabool by 30-40 minimum, this is the best Ava team they've had since their state title loss. Not as familiar with who they'll have to compete with in C3 vs C2. Not sure they're on the level of a Mt. Vernon or other top area 3's.

Cabool defense is allowing 13.7 pts per game with a 3-4 record.

Oh well, W-L record is what truly matters at the end of the day.

Here’s to hoping it all comes together for the bulldogs in districts.

Cabools defensive number are more attributed to the fact that the conference as a whole is pretty mediocre.

Now if they can hold down the Ava offense to 20-30 pts then I will change my opinion on this.
