Liberal headed to 8-man football

35 players at Jasper? That's impressive! Hope they all stick with it!

I liked this one better:

Last year Jasper got a taste of eight-man as their JV team had to play two quarters in a game, “Our JV kids hated it. They were like ‘coach please don’t ever let us go eight-man.”

Funny thing is the team they played the 2 quarters of 8-man might be in the Southwest Conference, where 8-man is not allowed.

Can't blame the eager new coach though; what is he supposed to say? He is trying to sell his system. Hoping they can keep the numbers as well.

Just curious to see how the Southwest Conference handles said team if numbers force them to play 8-man at JH and JV levels.

Lockwood seems to be a questionable choice over Jasper. Lockwood won’t even field a girls basketball team this year and their numbers keep getting smaller. Jasper has a lot more kids in their school as well. I think the disbanding of the SRVC was a good move though. If not we would of been heading towards the same fate as the WEMO with half the conference playing 8 man.

I got nothing to contribute to this thread, but this: Princeton is playing at Midway on 9-4-20, and I assume Midway is coming here on 9-3-21.

Im assuming it was lockwood.

Dhs brought up a good point. Will they be sanctioned by their conference since the whole premise of blowing up the srvc was to avoid losing games due to lack of numbers.
Why are you assuming? How bout we talk about known things like Liberal going 8-man? Seems like the teams that left them out made a good decision.

Never heard of a conference "sanctioning" a member. What does this entail? Double secret probation! ..or is this something that is just make believe?

Adrian will only have to win 3 conference games to be champs right? Or will they play the 8 man side winner and just rotate quarters. 8 man in the 1st and 3rd quarters and 11 man in the 2nd and 4th quarter

Make them sit out a year of girls bball?
Too bad they can't coop with GC for that.

Pierce City had 15 out for JH FB last year. They played 11 on 11 when they got the chance, but lean times ahead for the Eagles.

Im not sure.
Maybe some of the whateverconferenceyoureinthisyear teams could schedule them.

Per MSHSAA Adrian is playing: Butler, Archie, Lincoln, St Joe Benton, Midway, Diamond, Windsor, Jasper and El Dorado Springs. Midway is playing: Warsaw, Lighthouse, Prairie View KS, Slater, Adrian, St. Michael, Jasper, Archie and Butler. Archie is playing Crest Ridge, Adrian, Lighthouse, Skyline, Jasper, Sherwood, University Ac., Midway and Windsor.

PC should Coop with Monett. we already coop for Swimming. I don't think it would push us up another class either.

Most conference teams have taken them off their schedule for this year. As for football I could see in the future a few SWC teams going 8 man. I think that eventually for football if we get down to 6 teams the SWC should bring in Adrian, Jasper and Archie. I know traveling would be a pain but it would only be for 3-4 games. I just think that might be the only way to have a full thriving 11 man Conference.

So, I guess the WEMO is no more?
