Wrestling has added a class and has a lot less schools than volleyball. How many schools in a class for wrestling approx. 58 or so - how many in volleyball 107 or so.

Next is Basketball - football has basically 7 classes if you include 8-man - why wouldn't basketball go to 6.

Forget 6 classes. They need to eliminate 3 classes and have a 2 class system like Illinois does. Missouri is crazy to have 5 classes. There are no differences in class 4 to class 5. It should be just like Illinois where I believe all schools under 750 or something like that are class A and all schools over that are class AA. Five classes just totally dilutes the quality of the classes and makes for a poor state tournament with minimal excitement. Illinois's system should be a model to follow. There state tournament is exciting and captivates the entire state, Missouri's is way to crowded and does not provide a true state champ.

Obviously ESP1115 has never coached or had a player in a smaller school. It's pretty easy to say it doesn't matter if it doesnt affect you. I can see their point about maybe not being as much difference between class 4 and class 5, but you would have to be an idiot if you think their isn't a difference between a school that has 100 kids to choose from and one that has 750. Let me do some math for some that are less capable. You have 100 kids, 50 of those are boys. Of those 50 boys, you may be luck to have 15 play a sport. Of those 15 (which includes freshman thru senior) maybe 8 are varsity capable. Compare that to a school that has 7 times as many kids and you don't have to be a brain surgeon to see the advantage. Every once in a while you might have a Hoosier team, but there is a reason there is only one Hoosier movie and that is because there is a very rare chance of a small school beating one 7 times their size. Missouri tries to even the playing field so that more kids can have the opportunity to participate in the state tournament. Illinois is not that interested in student participation or is to tight to spend the money to get more kids involved. I always thought that was the reason for athletics in schools.

with that kind of logic we may as well do that in football....

and I don't see how a two class system has one true state champion either.

Why don't we just give everyone a championship...

that seems like where MO wants to take basketball sometimes. There is no reason to have more than 4 classes; I prefer 2 personally as well.

With wrestling they added a class last year. There is now four classes but with the addition they subtracted the "Sectional Championship" so instead of in the past where there were eight teams at Districts then the top four went to sectionals and then the top four of those eight went to the state tournament and competeted and made the top sixteen in the state. So now with the addition of another class there are more schools at districts and then the top four move on to state so you are leiminating a whole meet by adding a class, I personally like the addition but there are many positives and negatives when you look at the addition.
