What is the future of Taveras? Assuming everybody is healthy I can't imagine the Cardinal's starting outfield looking any different next April that it does today. Will they try to hang on the Taveras long enough for him to be Holliday's replacement?
I didn't know anything about Grichuk when we got him in the trade but what I read about him made me post on here that he might be the best part of that trade. Some who know about minor players than I said he might be ok but was a couple of years away from sticking in the bigs. Now it looks like he could make a couple of our home grown OF prospects trade bait very soon.

Was listening to The Morning After boys yesterday. Think they were talking to Strauss about this. He thinks it's probable they trade him, especially with Piscotty as a viable option in the near future. Keeping them both (Tavares and Piscotty) just seems silly, and I would assume Tavares gives them the most return. That said, I think Mo really likes OT. I also think Bourjos is under club control for one more season. All of that said, it wouldn't SHOCK me to see Jay moved if he offers considerably more than Tavares on the trade market. Gun to head, I'd have to say there's no chance of Jay, Bourjos, and Tavares on the same roster next season. Would be nice if the Birds could get a legitimate RH bench bat as part of some deal. But there doesn't seem to be a lot of those guys out there. And the Birds don't seem to be the only team inundated with OF talent. Just look at the Nats and Royals, both playoff teams. They've got them spilling out of every orifice as well.

If you platoon Taveras and Grichuk you give up a lot of defense.

I guess they should keep Taveras as a pinch hitter, he's been much better in that role than anything else.

It really is nice to have some pop off the bench, and OT certainly provides that. At some point, you'd have to think the Birds could find a corner RH bat. I don't know enough about Piscotty to know if they view him as a viable option at 3B or 1B (as a backup obviously). In a perfect world, he'd be that guy I guess. I just remember how long it took AC to adjust to MLB pitching. That's sort of how I view OT right now.

Has Piscotty played the infield? All I've heard about him is in the outfield?

IIRC...he was drafted as a 3B, played maybe one year (shortened rookie maybe) there and got flipped to the OF. That was when there was somewhat of a logjam at 3B...Freese, MCarp, and somebody else I can't remember. I'm not saying he'd be ideal defensively, or that it's even a possibility...more or less just thinking out loud.

There may not be a jam at 3rd now but there is young guy that ain't goin anywhere playin there.
