Has to be the biggest upset of week 3! Congrats to the Mules! Would love a brief recap from someone who attended this one..............

It was a very good game. If you can watch a recap I suggest you watch it and make your own assessment of the game. Lathrop has a strong team. Penney has and even stronger team, in my opinion. This is why...Penney class 1, Lathrop class 2. Penney has the majority playing both sides of the ball the entire game. Lathrop has double the players to give breathing time. The KCI is one of the toughest conferences in the State, and everyone has it in for Penney. Last nights game had a lot of penalties, majority 10-15 against Penney, on key plays, key runs. Lathrop 2-4 (4 being the most if that) penalty flags. I think you can figure out the math on that one as far as yardage. Majority were holding or blocks in the back against Penney. Now everyone knows that a holding flag can be called the majority of the time in football, just speaking the truth. Don't get me wrong there were some legit ones, but EVERYTIME there was a good run from Penney. That's a little suspicious to me. But its all a part of football. Not taking anything away from either team, because both teams played their heart and souls out and left everything they had on that field. It was truly the game to watch in the KCI. Penney was on the board first last night. People were picking Lathrop over Penney, which is fine, in all reality when you do the numbers, Lathrop should win, bigger school, more players, home field advantage. But anyone that was at that game last night can do the math and realize what they saw...talent, heart, drive, that was all Penney. When it takes an entire team, and I am not exaggerating when I say this, and multiple times it was their entire team to take down one player...two players...three players....to take down some of Penny's players, well that speaks volumes. Like I said if you can watch a recap, you should, make your own assessment. Because I'm afraid mine will be a little one sided.

You are right, it seemed that the majority of the time there was a big play it got called back in a penalty. And totally agree, Penney has more talent and strength. Latroy lost out on a lot of yards from penalties. But it was weird how nobody was getting mad about the penalties until the last 2 drives. Also, from what I've seen, Latroy is about it on offense. Stiff wind knocks the RB down, QB looks a bit lost. He's on his third game as a starter so I kind of get it. The TE Whitt (spelling) is good too, but the passing game is bad. But i don't understand the offense now. They have 2 running plays. QB scramble, pitch to the running back. Thats it. And hardly any effective passing pays. Latroy gets it done on pure talent, but he was it last night, and ran out of gas. There's only so much he can do on his own.

The defense is really solid. The O line is good too. But they have to get the passing game figured out fast.

Good points. LaTroy may have looked like he was out of gas, but when you are tackled by the entire team, which sounds like you were there, so you know, for 48 minutes, I don't care who you are that's a lot of weight to take for one person. Besides times when he was hit after plays or thrown to the ground after plays and no flag, and he still gets back up...that's not ability that's heart, determination, and love for his team and craft.
Passing game will come around, you've taken the main WR and put him at QB for snaps, which he's a first year QB, and so you are virtually asking first year QB'S and WRs to start meshing together. Anyone in football knows that can take years to make a connection, and here we are the third week of football.
DEFENSE...our defense...we have THE WALL, between the Trospers and Pulley well anyone in this area knows that's a force to wrecken with in itself, and then add Black on top of them. Hamilton has always had strong defensive teams. SO.... TOP NOTCH.
Again, last nights game was tough all the way around the last Lathrop TD was on a questionable call, 4th/5th down, which I blame on the officiating, not the players. Players capitalized on the opportunity they were given.
I am only one voice, believe me, I didn't understand all the penalty flags the entire game, but I am not the one in the zebra shirt, and I usually don't say anything about officials, but this game I can't help but say something. Especially since it was on every long run of Harper's. Which also made Penneys offense have to work double time, hence Lathrops fresher players able to be subbed in and out while Penney plays double time. Class 1 vs Class 2. So... Again. My point as to where Penney has the better team, but the cards fell in Lathrops favor last night.

Totally agree with what you said. We're on the same page. I love watching Kenny Pulley and the Trosper boys. Not much getting by those boys.

It's always tough to play both ways. And if you have that many payers like they did, you can always be fresh. Those are tough boys out there. They will improve. They always do!

Oak Park is god awful. Was before he got there and still is years after he left. I give him credit for turning Maryville into a power who traditionally underachieved.

Absolutely, but he went in to OP thinking he was gong to do the same as he did in Maryville, he didn't!

Kind of the same thing happened to literas after he left Maryville when he went to Fort Osage. While he didn't win on field at Fort Osage think he changed the culture there and have been better ever since.
