Won't happen. Both teams schedules are 100% filled with conference games until district play beginning next year. Thanks for the compliment. Just would love to see these two schools play. Real Football vs Real Football, old fashion brawl. Would have to have the game in Webb City, heck, I would even make the trip for this one.
Both teams have a full schedule so it won't happen any time soon even if they would agree to it which I highly doubt. IF it did, Webb would crush them. J Rod > Bailey and I respect them both highly. Thanks for the compliment. Just would love to see these two schools play. Real Football vs Real Football, old fashion brawl. True. Still, Webb has greater size, numbers, and the ace in the hole J-Rod. A big part of Lamar's dominance that gets less talk than it should is their scheme. Almost all Class 2 schools couldn't even field the athletes to mimick them in prep, and that's if they could coach them up on it which most couldn't. Not an issue with Webb.Crush is a pretty strong word. While WC would more than likely win I don't think it would be easy or a multi-score difference. We will never know.
Every year they play all class 3 and 4 conference opponents. No 5 or 6 that I recall in the past.I don't want to look it up. What Class 3,4,5 and 6 teams has Lamar ever played?
What is Lamar's average front lineman, height and weight? 1st, 2nd, and 3rd string.
What are the total number of Seniors, Juniors, Sophs on the varsity squad?
A team like Blue Springs has 205 kids out. Their average line is 6'4" 280-290. And their team speed is: FAST.

Excluding freshman they are probably around 60, class sizes are fairly even most of the time
Not sure on exact line size but first team seems decently sized. Not sure how deep that size goes.
They have a total enrollment less than the size of a single class at blue springs. Depth would a huge obstacle at that level of competition.
We turbo clocked the class 3 state runner up Mount Vernon this year, we beat the class 3 state champions last year and we defeated class 4 Carl Junction the last time we met them before they moved to the COC Large. As for line size, it proves to not be as important as physical strength as proven against Trinity and Lutheran North. As some are fair in their assessment in relation to physical size, I feel it is fair to state I would challenge any program to come in and push more weight up. JMO but the numbers prove it. We are kicking kids out of their sophomore year in the 1000 lb. club regularly in a combination of bench, squat and power clean. It is equally important to be able to maintain that force for 4 quarters as we often find talented programs who just plain wear out before the game is over. Whether that is due to lack of preparation or having to many kids playing both directions is a case by case determination, but the fact still remains.I don't want to look it up. Smithville in Class 4 turbo clocked Class 3 state champ Mayville 42-7. (Yawn)
People, please. This mythical match up is always brought up at the end of the season. No Webb City folks or Lamar folks ever bring it up. It's not gonna happen. It's all a bunch of if's and but's. When our enrollment justifies being a class 4 school, we can talk about it. Until then,,,, come on, man!
Webb and Lamar have played many many timesI realize that when you don't live in Southwest Missouri this can be an intriguing IDEA.
It will only ever be an idea.
Being from this area and driving the roads between all of the small communities in Southwest Missouri for most of my life I have to tell you that from where I stand? There is a whale of a difference between this Class 2 community and this Class 4 community.
Several decades ago they were much nearer to being the same size and played each other in regular season games across all sports. Sitting right in Joplin's front yard Webb City has continued to grow and grow but Lamar hasn't enjoyed any surge in population for many many years. In fact? The people who are still there are 100% committed to the community because a large majority of them no longer have the luxury of working there.
I think it's fairly safe to say that both teams would give 110% in this match up that will never happen. It's also been proven that numbers or even size do not always translate into a sure thing.
BUT, we aren't talking about just any random team's size and numbers. It's Webb.
ALL things Considered? Webb wins most years for this Fantasy match up. But, hey... Shouldn't they?!
The coolest thing for a Southwest Missouri football fan is just being able to see what these 2 teams do in their own respective classes. And, most importantly? The immense amount of respect they have each for the other team.![]()
Lamar would struggle to get first downs on Webb
A bunch of 15 year olds at Trinity almost beat one of the best Lamar teams of all time (2016 Lamar). CJ who loses to Webb almost every game beat Lamar multiple times and isn’t CJ a small class 4 team based off enrollment?

Exactly, and then another famous fumble ended Webbs year at the dome. That was a very talented WC team that had to dig deep for everything they had to get past CJ that year.I will say that the last time CJ played Lamar Lamar won 56-34. That same CJ team played Webb City 2 weeks later and led the entire game and lost 10-7 due to that famous fumble.
Saying Lamar would struggle to get first downs on Webb wasn't a knock on Lamar but when is the last time a team has had any success running the ball on Webb ? Lamar is even more one dimensional than Webb is so what happens when they can't run the ball ?

I think a lot of you overestimate class size as a factor. The Webb teams from a few years ago beat Class 6 Rockhurst. Now, this years Lamar Team and this years Webb City teams are no where near the best teams by either school. They had enough to win state, but by no means were they dominating teams. Sorry if this forum seems crazy that if these two teams would play, but I think it would be a great game. Webb City would win not just because they are Class 4 but they would win because they are a better team. But I think it would be closer than you think.
There is no WAY that Webb would *chrush* Lamar. No way. seemes to me peeps were yakking that about rockhurst and the weebbies a few years ago.
Outside of a few spelling airrerrs* (lol) this may be your best post.
I respect both of these great programs but to read the WC faithful use the same argument against Lamar that has been written on this and the Arky board against them is somewhat ironic. Josh Frazier, HarBer/Alabama, made a few boastful statements the he couldn't back up in 2012. The Prepcast commentator for the WC Rock game was a former Blue Springs coach. After Rock took a 14 to 0 lead in the 1st qtr in 2014, he made a statement that the WC running game may work down in SW Mo and in class 4 but they were playing against the "Big Boys" now. What arrogance!
By the same token, I say don't dismiss Lamar. I think the Tigers would have won a regular season matchup last year. This year's WC defense was difficult for any team and Lamar would have not fared well either. On the flip side, the WC O this year was effective but not exactly unstoppable.
Whatever. I get that most won't agree with me. It's just fun to speculate sometimes. What else am I going to do? Watch basketball? Lol.
