Here we go. WC is tough at home. They laid a stinker against Camdenton offensively today the defense showed out. Several penalties that were out of character. Ladue won what looks like a defensive battle.

I’ll be rooting for SWMO but from what I saw today I have to say Ladue 28 to 14. Hopefully today was a wake up call for an intense week of practice for WC. Leave the blue jerseys in the locker room next week.

West Plains beat Camdenton 41-7. Ladue beat West Plains 26-0. Webb basically tied Camdenton. Webb had a couple of critical playmakers out that have kept them in several games this year. Those two will not likely play next week, IMO. If they do, I highly doubt they make it past the first half with their injuries. Hope Im wrong but Ladue will handle Webb easily because webb wont be able to keep ball control. Webbs defense will wear down. If the injury situation turns out to be a non factor then I believe past scores still reflect a double digit Ladue win. If our two injured backs dont play, Webb gets clobbered similar to Joplin. Im right about 20% of the time, so read on....but thats my 20%.

Webb cleans the mistakes up and wins 21-7

Hate to see a team that played as dirty as Camdenton did win, so I guess they got what they deserved. One player ejected and how was the kid that ripped #1’s helmet off not tossed also???

Playing with their #4 and #5 running backs most of the game I don’t believe the offense looked as bad as it may have seemed ( turnovers and short fields didn’t help our cause). The young kids stepped up pretty good in a tough spot. Flags didn’t help any either especially with 80% of them going against WC. I believe Cams first flag was after halftime and only had a handful entire game.

Keys for WC next week:
1. Get healthy
2. Watch the ball snap on defense
3. Bring the intensity

I like our chances at full strength.

There were 3 plays in a row where a Webb player “lost” their helmet. Talked with one of their O-line and he said they were “ripping” at their chin straps.

Ladue defense looks very good.
Even at full strength, Webb will struggle to run ball against “LaDuAbama” D line.
That is one of the best D lines I've ever seen in C4. Make no mistake, though, they aren't just going to walk into Webb and win. Odessa was a favorite yesterday at another school that is anything but used to losing at home and we all know how that worked out.

I do think WC defense will hold Ladue to 21 or less but I have great concerns that we will be able to score. If running backs are back and healthy then this will be low scoring with WC winning by 4. 14-10.

I enjoy Webb from the outside looking in and appreciate everyone's perspective.
I'm hopeful that coaching and atmosphere will play some part and Webb will grind out a win.
Even at the HSFB level it should never be discounted. Tradition is a huge intangible especially this time of year. I think Ladue will get a lot of love this week (frankly they deserve it) but they have never been in the kind of atmosphere they will face Saturday. This has the makings of one of those "snot-bubble" low scoring classics that, like yesterday, could come right down to the wire.

I like us in the underdog position which it sounds like WC is being granted by the consensus of opinions. It’s going to be a great atmosphere here in WC among all us simple folks. State title is going through WC AGAIN, win or lose and I’ll take the chat pile gutter rats in this one AGAIN. #expandthetrophycase #brokenrecordstory

Ladue is good there is no doubt about it. But as it has been stated, tradition and coming to Webb to play is never an easy thing to do. I watched film of Ladue playing at Kirkwood this year and noticed that there was very little crowd there. Camdenton people are used to the tradition and they travel well, so it was a loud stadium from both sides of the field. It may be loud on only one side this next Saturday. Camdenton/Shore was very deceiving with trying time after time to pull Webb's D-line off sides and it worked many times. That was going to be the plan when they came out to go for two until JRod got the timeout and was able to talk about that very point. I would say, willing to bet that they'll be ready for anything like that this next week. If Henderson and Weathers are back watch out. Ladue won't be able to just focus on one threat in the backfield. Beason didn't have his best day of throwing, but when we needed some incredible passes, he and Gaskil/Cabala got the job done. The D-line learned a ton yesterday - and they will be ready to take on another challenge. They got knocked down, but they got back up and they back time after time. They didn't rollover and give up, they came from behind and did what they needed to do to win. It's going to be a great atmosphere this next Saturday - come on out and enjoy some great HSFB!

I’m reading all of these comments on here and I’m just amazed at what I’m reading from all of the WC fans. Camdenton doesn’t play dirty they just play hard nose football. For the most part they shut down the WC running game except for one long TD Run. If it weren’t for some mistakes by Camdenton they win that football game and WC is done for the season. If Ladue has any kind of passing attack I think they win this next week cause WC has a real hard time stopping the pass. Camdenton showed the entire state yesterday how to beat WC by throwing the football.
All that being said the winners play on.

I honestly didn't think Camdenton played dirty yesterday! I thought they played hard and physical! Webb had a HUGE personal foul to give Camdenton a first down on a key drive! If you have ever played in a big time game, you will get some of that! Great season Camdenton! Webb was lucky to advance, especially when you are on your 4th RB!
PS, I'm a Webb fan

Totally agree with you!!!!!

Isn’t this the same D line Webb ran the ball on last year???
Not sure if I follow your point. If Ladue has the same D lineman back that WC struggled to put 14 points on the board last year, aren’t those same lineman now a year bigger, stronger, faster, and more experienced while the Card lost good O Lineman to graduation? But maybe your statement was tongue in cheek? After WC’s games against Joplin and Carthage I made the statement that their line just simply was not getting the push I was accustomed to seeing. The impressive thing about Webb in past years, even when their opponents seeming play the run relatively well, I see the down box move forward 2 or 3 yards. That is what makes Webb look like a machine. I have not seen that this year in the 3 games I have now witnessed. I’ve seen the the backfield talent make defenses pay if they get a crack though. One thing that helps opposing defenses stack the box this year is I don’t think they have to fear the pass too much even though they have 2 remarkably talented receivers.

Ladue's defense didn't allow West Plains offense past their 40-yard line up until the last possession of the game when the game was already decided. The Rams were able to move the ball offensively with their passing game but had trouble punching the ball into the end zone every time they got inside the red zone. I think we'll see a similar game like last year's state championship, but if Webb City isn't fully healthy at running back then I think that favors the Rams quite a bit IMO.

I know they've never been to a stadium with an atmosphere like what the Cardinal faithful produces, but I don't' think the Ladue players will get intimidated by that just by knowing them. They easily could've been put off a bit by the large Zizzer following yesterday, but they clearly weren't.

Ladue gave up 300 rushing yards to Webb at Faurot last year. They didn’t even come close to stopping our running game.

Did any Webb kids get ejected??
I guess I don’t recall anyone from either team get ejected in that game. I do remember two helmet to helmet flags against WC that were picked up and waived off that should have been enforced. Although I would not call those hits dirty that’s just football but they were helmet to helmet hits.

First hit was shoulder to shoulder not helmet to helmet. Second one was marginal at best and in the opinion of the white cap the WC player whiffed. in football you don’t get penalized for almost helmet to helmet contact. Watch Hudl and you’ll see the white cap was correct on that one.

Just saying to many flags were picked up and waived off in that game. Not saying that’s what cost Camdenton the game just saying someone saw helmet to helmet to call it.

Gateway beat me to it but if you stop and look at it objectively, I think you have to say Ladue did a fairly decent job of playing bend but don’t break defense last year. In fact, The game was still within reach until WC finally scored their 2nd TD with under a minute to play. Every other drive then ended with a stop and punt, a turnover or end of half. What I recall was a huge take away by your FS around the 10 or 15 that would have otherwise been a reception. Game and momentum changer. My other takeaway was WC’s defense played out of their minds. One of the better defensive performances I’ve seen. But as stated, that was last year.

Webb's going to have to wear down the line of Ladue to have a shot. I thought West Plains would and boy was I wrong. I favor Ladue by around 10.

I think you summed it up perfectly.

I think it was getting a little “chippy” out there and the refs were trying to not let it get out of hand and may have been just a little flag happy. They conferred, relied on multiple views/angles and in the end got it right. JMO.

Against Camdenton - w/ Henderson, WC ave. 5.0 yards per carry, without him 3.3. For the year they WC averages 8 yards a carry. "The veer is like Novocain - it will put you to sleep and then bam - a long run."
