37 at SLU, 29 as head. Kinda cool when I read it, he was an assistant at Perryville for two years. I worked there for a couple years. Our bus driver for all bball trips, Coach Pickle, was the head football coach at Perryville back when Coach Kornfeld was there. My favorite thing to do on those trips was to drag the cooler in the aisle up next to Coach Pickle and listen to his stories. No doubt, some of them included Coach Kornfeld, and I had no clue. Fun stuff. He's been there forever hasn't he? I watched that Jeff City documentary that was posted on here and I'm pretty sure he was the one coaching SLUH in the 91 Title Game @ Faurot.... I think. I could be wrong.
Coach Pickle was the guest speaker at the old Jefferson County Preseason Coaches Kickoff BBQ back in the mid late 90's. Just stood up and told stories...good time.37 at SLU, 29 as head. Man, that guy was awesome to be around. Took it for granted then. Drove the bus, did the book, and told great stories. He made something I've hated since I started coaching (riding a bus) very enjoyable. Never had to fill out a trip request or any of that crap. No "pool" drivers. Just tell Coach Pickle how long before game time you liked to get there before playing a game, and he'd be out front for you. Never had to give directions. If there was a gym south of St Louis and east of Rolla, he could find it. I was spoiled and had no idea.Coach Pickle was the guest speaker at the old Jefferson County Preseason Coaches Kickoff BBQ back in the mid late 90's. Just stood up and told stories...good time.
Just having fun with ya...Fred Bouchard is the HOF Coach who won State Titles at Harrisonville...and then started the new very successful program at Staley when they opened in 2006 and won another State Title there. GREAT Coach...and even a better man!I did not know that.
