KICK FOR CHARITY: The Missouri Soccer Coaches Association has planned a charity soccer game to support the family of Hickman soccer Coach Jon Strodtman, who continues to undergo costly treatment for cancer. After the holidays, Strodtman underwent testing in Texas. He’ll return to Texas once a month to continue treatment.
The charity game, tentatively arranged to pit local celebrities against coaches, is scheduled for March 12 in Columbia. The coaches’ association is lining up sponsors and hopes to organize a raffle for soccer jerseys and equipment. All proceeds will go to the Coaches Support Fund, which will donate the money to the Strodtman family to help cover his trips to Texas. The coaches’ association has asked prep coaches from around the state to establish similar fundraising efforts to help the family.
