The shocker has to be it's Harrisonville representing this bracket. I don't think anyone saw this match up coming but great season by Harrisonville. They had their bumps along the way but have pieced it together nicely for a run at a State Title. K is well, still K. Not really surprised to see them here again. There is history between this two and I believe, K owes H'Ville. Should be a fun night in Springfield!

Does KC Suburban Conference redistricting happen every year now? Is Harrisonville joining the KC Suburban Conferences next year? Any chance these teams meet again in Week 1? That would be kind of cool. #RandomThoughtsByMikeHoncho

Owes big time but the kids were likely way too young to remember the "Travis Britz" game. That aside it is back to 0-0 but K better be able to run the ball much better than they did today (not slighting Ladue at all as they had a massive, athletic D line) especially given the title game is now outdoors.

Smithville and Grain Valley are for sure. Someone from HVille would have to update whether they are indeed leaving the MRVC West.

After seeing WEBBs first game I knew we were out as far as winning it all. I picked Kearney that night to win it all and am going to stick to that butttt.......They will have to figure out how to stop #29. WEBB did for most the night but he busted one on us before half for like 64 yards which proved to be the difference in the game. Kid also is an outstanding punter. Kearney better figure out early to go outside. Hvilles D gives up very little up the gut. Should be a great Championship game with both teams having tough roads earning their way there..best of luck to both.

Cutting down on penalties wouldn't hurt.

Another 75 yards in penalties after the 100 yard day a week ago. A lot of holding calls, at really bad points in the games. First down on the 2...bad timing (and cost them points.) Two interceptions and dropped passes didn't help.

But a lot of the Kearney boys have been playing in championship football games together since grade school, so you can count on them to bring it hard in the big game. Harrisonville is a football town too--so this will be some hard hitting slober-knocker "Whoooh nelly" of a game.

Kearney wins this one handily. 20+. Defense is too good.
Against top backs (Staley's Ross and Hannibal's Griffith) the D has been quite vulnerable. They are about to face another one....................as always time will tell.

I attribute many of the pens in the last two games to a bit of overconfidence mixed with an occasional lack of focus (something to which Coach Jones alluded after the Ladue game). This week I am very hopeful we will see the Kearney team (especially offensively) we saw in both Platte County games. The first half of the district title game was without a doubt the best 24 minutes of football the KDogs have played all season.

I counted five pens after first and goal on what I told my sister was the "statement" drive of the game. Anything like that happens this Friday the result will, I assure you, be quite different.

Harrisonville's RB is not at the level of Ross. And credit Belton's huge front line in their game. Yes, surprisingly...big time backs have been a problem, unlike previous years. Seems like it was 10-7 Kearney in the first half v. Staley? And it seems like Kearney beat Belton? Liberty North's RB is the fastest 100m runner in Class 5. 30-0.

IF Kearney were to lose...There are SO many ways I could dig my Kearney friends...

"Excelsior could beat them, but Kearney couldn't?"

"You lost to the third place team in the MRVC West." Don't tell me they were second place...H lost to ES...so they are third.

"Platte County 49...Harrisonville, 0. Didn't the Dawgs beat PC twice?"

Ew...burn

I think you may end up being surprised at the level Hville's rb is at. He consistently makes big plays.

Hville also has a very solid WR they didn't even have to utilize against PN and in the games I have seen Kearney play, they at times have struggled defending the pass. Both teams have their weaknesses. Hville still has issues with fumbling at times and Kearney with penalties. Regardless, I expect this to be a very good football game.

Harrionville's RB also is their best defensive player, kicks, punts and probably drives the team bus. I can't speak to whether he is a better RB than Ross but he is a very complete football player and if he was injured and missed time in the middle of the season it is understandable why they struggled. He is a difference maker.

Harrisonville is peeking right now. Kearney has struggled against bad dteams with lots of dumb penalties.

Harrisonville by 14.

If Harrisonville loses one player and suddenly can't play good enough to beat Grain Valley or Excelsior...then you gotta wonder? jus sayin

I'm not going to lie, I've been watching Hville football for 20 years and the Platte County game may have been the worst game I've ever seen Hville play. Didn't get to see the next couple but like everyone else, was shocked by the losses to Excelsior and GV. All that being said, since that point they have been rolling.

I no longer have anyone playing in the program but I can tell you from past experience that there's a lot to be said about the sometime's fragile phsyce of 14-18 year old kids and after that PC game, that certainly may have been a factor along with injuries, line up adjustments, etc., that have been talked about. But one thing is now certain, there is a lot of character in this group from coaches and players as they have dealt with all that adversity and are a completely different team than they were at 3-3.
