Kearney by 3. Based only on their performances the past two weeks. Staley does not have Ross anymore. Staley is balanced on run and pass offense. It will have to move to a passing attack. I'm assuming K gets a little lucky and plays no mistake football. Major mistakes and they are going down big time.

Its going to be a tough game. Both teams have a lot of hard nosed kids that aren't afraid to bloody their knuckles!!
Three weeks ago, I would have thought Staley by 21+. Calpreps still doesn't like K in this one. [projection: Staley (Kansas City, MO) 34-17]

I am watching the weather forecast very closely. That could affect not only the outcome but when this and other games particularly in NWMO occur.

Maybe we should pay attention to this. JN was the one that predicted a Kearney victory over LN by 1 point.

I will predict the correct spread and score. Pay no attention to the date/time I edited my original post. ;)
I predicted Kearney over LN by 1 on a Monday. Never edited it. Four days later, it happened. Now my MRVC predictions suck. But I've never seen any of them play, except Excelsior and Harrisonville. I'd seen Kearney and LN. So it wasn't a stretch to see what was coming.

If Calpreps is predicting a 14 point win for Staley, it's gonna happen. They are like 90% accurate when the spread is 7 or more points. The dogs need to get healthy and move onto PC.

Kearney can and will compete.
They better be ready to stop Staley qb and the passing game. He has 3 really good options to throw to, #1, #87, and #3 and he will take off running if no one is open. They, Staley, may be better than they were last year w/ Ross.
Kearney just needs to do Kearney and not turn the ball over, I think they'll be in this one.

Kearney may not win again this year. Staley this week, then Platte County, followed by a tough first round district game I'm assuming given how deep the class 4 District 8 is.

Fun, all good discussion points.
Yes, if the comments are student centered and the games are about matchups between two deserving teams compiled of kids that sacrifice and try really hard, that's what matters. The rest of the outside contest banter is mean. High School Football needs to be appreciated and relished no matter what happens on scoreboard. Those that play this game, gifted and struggling have earned personal accolades for their investment and commitment. It ain't easy, and kids that want to do what it takes to play football, in today's world, don't grow on trees.

If they lose the next two (very much possible) then they just might face a possible upset in that first round. If their offense had not improved, it would have been very likely. Now I think they win against PC, win four playoff games and then lose to WC by 17 in the semis.

May.....???

Idea: Stop off at your local convenience store and purchase a lottery ticket. Heck - buy a 100 lottery tickets. You 'may' win the lottery.

No way KMO loses three in a row.

I haven't seen either team play a down this year but I wouldn't write Kearney off since they have basically owned Staley in their relatively short history. At the very least I think it will be a competitive game. Staley didn't just walk all over Platte County and until proven otherwise I think Kearney is better than PC.

Other than the rivalry this game is meaningless to both teams. Hope they can both come out healthy and make a strong deep run in the playoffs.

How is ever winning or losing a football game ever meaningless??

I would love to hear you explain that to Coach Riderique

Actually given the records of others in Kearney's district this one is pretty important. If they could steal this one would likely vault them to #1 in D8.

I was WRONG about Kearney. Their D stood out to me, and not in a good way. They showed VERY little interest in tackling. #87 ran through people, #3 ran through (and jumped over) people, #1 ran behind everybody and #7 did almost whatever he wanted. And BTW, Staley D-Line is nasty, they have and will make a lot of O-lines look bad!

After digesting this one overnight a bit more would say it goes back to what I have noticed the past two weeks.............where is the physical "fist" nastiness this D used to be known for?????? Didn't see much fire out of them last night from the get go. Hate to say it but wonder if that side of the ball is wearing down because the O cannot sustain drives vs. any credible opposing D? Makes this Friday's game (K's senior night at home vs Platte County) all the more intriguing.

Staley would destroy Webb this year too. But K might still squeak out a District title unless Platte County does.
I think the game would be a classic unless Webb doesn't have a good pass rush. That I seriously doubt.............

WC has a very good pass rush this year. The defense in general has been very good but WC has been beat deep several times this year. Depending on the severity of an injury Friday night that could be a concern going forward.
