Belton must have state championship caliber track sprinters playing in the first half
GO FIGURE. They couldn't have looked better vs. Grandview last week after looking very sloppy first half several games this year only real exception being Fort O where nobody had them winning. Sometimes I guess having been there done that before does matter. Pays to remember Kearney is shocking the World after being off the radar the past three years in particular.
I do know Raytown, under Minnick, and Belton were very vigorous rivals perhaps this is a case of the Belton staff knowing his tendencies?

Beltons record is a little misleading. They’re not a bad team
Umm they barely beat Excelsior plus winless Tonka and lost badly to Grain Valley and Platte County. I've seen enough to know they are not very good, either.
They do have a good basketball player that was QB but has been out for health reasons. Maybe he’s back?
Did he start at the beginning of the season? I ask because they struggled past Excelsior and Winnetonka, both of whom I've seen and K rolled again after flat first halves. Take away last week and Fort O that is a TENDENCY.

Belton’s starting QB came back this week. Been out all year. Makes a huge difference.

In time for Kearney wow. I know they were hyped pre-season but haven't looked good at any time point but that sure doesn't explain them holding a very high powered offense to one TD through nearly 3 qtrs.
Are we to take this I need to watch the Pirates in their district where only Grain Valley seems to be good this year? I am always interested in blowout rematches (first game was 44-0 turbo).
Is he the reason Belton was getting some hype preseason? I guess I can go back and look but got lots of other stuff going on.............

Part of the reason for sure. Was part of their all-conference backfield last season. With him being out it affected the other offensive playmakers and well, you’ve seen the scores.
How far can they go with him? Time will tell. They’re definitely a different team with him though.
The pathway is simple: GRAIN VALLEY. The rest of that district is ripe for the taking.
Very curious, if he stays healthy and they play Grain Valley in the district title game, how Allie and co. sell their kids Belton is to be taken seriously after turboing them without this kid.
Looks like Belton simply ran out of gas. What an effort! Never saw this coming NOW on to an even more shocking one at LS North...........
It was almost like KHS coaching staff was doing what they could to make Kearney sweat until the late 4th qtr. Worst game of the year for Ktown.
Cannot for the life of me find any replays of this one. Prefer to see real time plays before issuing opinions but always trust your honest, blunt perspective. Again the senior heavy Smithville express looks beyond impressive right now.............
Special teams meltdown. I wouldn’t get your panties in a bunch. A flubbed onside that Belton ran back for a TD. A snap way over the head of a punter set up a very short TD. First O play of the game a fumble that led to a great fingertip tip catch for a TD. Think Chiefs Colts but still scoring 26 points in 8 minutes of play to win, instead.
without all the Murphy’s law disasters, all unforced by the way…still 40 points better.
Of course, do that in a playoff and you are done.
Not worried about it one bit, Joey. Anyone told me pre-season K is going 10-1 in Minnick's first season I would take that in a heartbeat.

You can do that to a Belton. Sorry not happening vs. Smithville. What I called the "brick wall" D from last year is back BUT time will tell. Just 20 days til we all find out barring the real, real unforeseen in the district semis.
Good to see K play them, hopefully, fully healthy unlike last time.

I think Kearney will be just fine. This happens to a lot of really good teams. Belton has athletes and if you aren't focused they can jump out and scare you. I'd bet it won't happen to Kearney again this season.
Thankfully there is only one more "overmatched" team on the slate. The winner of Marshall-Excelsior Springs will be Kearney's District semi opponent. After that..................
