Kearney 30 Liberty North 0

A terrible game for both teams. Kearney beat down a team that handed them at least 21 points on a silver platter. Fumbles, awful special teams, dismal quarterback play, dropped balls, off-target passing, penalties. It was one of the worst games I have seen. Kearney was never threatened. If this game doesn't push LN over the edge I don't know what will. LN offense was a complete cluster of bad football. I'm surprised Kearney didn't hang 60.

It is pretty clear that Week 8 Staley game will be THE regular season one for Kearney but they aren't quite good enough to just walk in and beat Belton and Platte County BUT neither seems to have much of a D and that tends to be fatal vs. top teams.

Agreed. Belton has an Achilles heel. They don't tackle and Platte county is just as suspect. Kearney gets it done with a plodding offense, OK pass coverage, and really good special teams. I think Staley is better than Kearney but Kearney has "it" over them.
Why I say this, GV and Raytown scored on them so easily. Maybe some guys were banged up, youth ? LN made Kearney D look remarkable. Not sure what's happening there. Good defense by Kearney or the worst offense in Clay County.

The hit on the 3yd line that caused a fumble/TD was all Defense.

Pass Defense was a bit suspect but North's QB was more worried about completing a pass to the face mask of the K lineman than his receivers.
Hurried many throws for that reason.

The end around play for Kearney was far to deep in the backfield, result fumble.
Sure they will fix that before next game.

Not that impressed with Staley.

Kearney still has PC,Staley and Belton. If Staley allowed LN to score 13, they are suspect. And they scored about the same as Kearney. Platte County isn't as good as Staley. Belton has to play at Kearney next week. Not saying they will, but Kearney may sweep those teams. Staley wasn't that impressive.

If I were not so lazy I would check myself but I believe Staley has a losing record against Kearney.

At this stage Kearney's offense kinda reminds me of 2014 but think the QB has major upside and will become more consistent and not so anxious (part of that was the LN defensive line which is very good).

Kearney is averaging 37 points a game at this point. Their QB had a 120 rating. LN muddied it up good by hitting receivers early and playing cover two. But that opened up short runs and a ball control game. If Kearney's defense steps up, they will be hard to beat in any of their remaining games.

Belton was without their 1st & 2nd string running backs and just beat the number 3 ranked class 4 team with one of the top offenses in the whole state. And their defense had 2 4th and 1 stands against that offense. But they can't tackle. Also their defensive line dominated the line of scrimmage.

I still want to question how good Liberty really is................maybe I should rethink that?

Same thing I noticed in the Ray South game (only other one I've been able to see live so far). Defenses are definitely keying on Jess Davis (with very good reason).

Trust me nobody in KTown will overlook Belton. I am also pretty sure it is homecoming so there is that distraction..................

So Staley should be intimidated when they play, just like LN was.
Haha that ain't gonna happen. Staley is outstanding and still has to be the region's top C5 team (let's see how good that Blue Springs South team turns out as the season wears on).

Staley doesn't fear Kearney. Both of the coaches are great guys but I'd expect Staley to go into Kearney and win this year.

I love that RB and hope he stays healthy (Julian Ross). Had I a vote would select him for the local Simone at this point.

Julian Ross is a great kid and athlete. Best RB they've had since Morgan Steward. It's unfortunate Morgan is unable to play anymore.

Belton was run over by Liberty. Torched, crushed and disemboweled. Liberty killed them so fast that it made their heads explode....Ray-Pec no doubt ran over them too. They are an improved program. Until they beat a good program like Kearney they will remain the team that good teams beat. Kearney will devise a way to manufacture points in all three phases of the game. PC is a nice victory. As you witnessed PC is one dimensional and they haven't tackled over there in a while.

I was at the Harrisonville/PC game a couple of weeks ago. Harrisonville was very small and no threat to run.

Platte County on the other hand did have some athletic players at corner back and LB but their defensive schemes were anti-pass based.... Interception first/stop run later.

Did not surprise me therefore that Staley and now Belton could run on them.

For PC and Belton to move up to the next level "consistently", they will need to do "both".

Agree with most on this board that the Staley/Kearney game will be two good teams matching up with equal chances for victory.

We will see...:)
