NWCMO Pick Em scoreboard coming, folks...................promise. Gonna be a real late one gotta start charting week 2 tonight!
AS for the subject at hand that was a tale of two halves. First was ugly and mistake riddled (opening game imagine that) and had me wondering about BOTH teams but the key was the amazing goal line stand right before half that kept PC in K's sights at 7-zip.
The second half was pure, flat out gut wrenching major league HSFB both sides. Sorry I am so mentally exhausted this may ramble but suffice to say those of us who told everyone KTown hit a homer hiring Minnick have already been proven right no matter what happens this season. You simply are not supposed to be able to topple over an empire like PC in their house like this! On that note I am all about the psychology of sports etc. and saw all these guys heading out for the second half knew it was gonna be good. Intense focus from that HC on down. The play calling was spot on for the most part although I do think the QB has lots of evolution ahead of him (just a JR) and the O Line won't face a D front like PC's the rest of the season and yes that includes next week. #9 is the REAL DEAL. Former OU QB Josh Heupel hit his own homer recruiting that Derrick Thomas look and at times play alike! On that note thanks a million to those who gave me crap for my customary OU sport shirt I wear to about everything...............did get one single Boomer, though LOL.
Overall a very, very, very entertaining opener. NOW both face those two teams I call "smoothly mature" my little catch phrase for championship teams in all sports. Kearney actually faces them both and will be underdawgs in each but I have a feeling that won't do anything but motivate these kids and coaches. EXTREMELY IMPRESSIVE STUFF ALL AROUND! On that marathon drive home all I could think about was September 2013 the first Andy Reid KC Chiefs game when Billy Bob Maas stood and clapped on the MetroSports KC set. What a debut, Mr. Minnick and Co.!
