looks like a down year for the City as a whole.

Is there a single KC school who anyone expects to compete for a state championship?

Platte County in Class 4 and the winner of District 4 in Class 6. Class 5 looks down. After De Smet barely beat Chaminade, Class 6 looks do-able.

Yes but are any of these teams considered elite or an actual threat??

Liberty North is a threat. Beat the teams they have beaten already, and have a coach that has taken teams to state title games three of the past 10 years. Yeah, a threat.

Class 4 Webb City can never rule them out.

Class 3 Odessa the real deal

Class 2 Maryville in a trap zemifinal game if played in NWMO in bad weather against the LN/CR winner.

Fun fact ...these teams combine for an 0-9 all time record against Webb City

Fun fact: Kearney is 4-3 versus Webb. And Excelsior Springs is 1-0 vs. Webb. Clay County is 5-3 versus Webb.
Well let’s see how Kearney does when they line up against Webb this year, or next year, or year after that, or 2022.......except Kearney won’t ever be there. You can brag about being 4-3 against Webb forever the way they suck these days they will never make it far enough to give Webb a shot to get even

9-0 against the best KC Metro has to offer lol

You cherry pick games. So can I. Webb is 3-5 against Class 4 teams from Clay County. And if you think Webb could compete year-in and year out in Class 6 D4 you are crazy.

I think Lathrop has a realistic shot at C2, especially if they get help from the weather.

Exactly. Webbies live for the fact they won meaningless early season games against Rock. But playoff games against Clay County teams...playoff games...they got beat.
The first game of the season is as important as the Championship game in Webb City

That's Probably why they have 14 State Championship Trophys lined up down a Hallway and all of Clay County only has 5

Truth be told over all of its History Kearney has only had 4 decent teams, pretty much all of the other years they really suck

By the way, whats Kearneys record against the teams you have on your list?? I would think since they are in the same Metro area they have played a lot over the years

Your big truck isn't enough to make up for having little junk down there, so you gotta go on this site and slam teams that have winning records against Webb City. Hey, someone cherry picked results, so did I. I'm sure there are still painful memories for Webbies from 2002-03. Especially 2003. Ouch, that 43-0 must have HURT.

Honestly we would rather lose a dozen games to a team like Kearney than one game to Carthage, Carl Junction , or Neosho. Those are the ones that hurt a long time.

Just be there come November when Webb is like they always are.

I just want to make you aware Joey. That is a FAKE Doc Guy. He opinions and statements in no reflect the opinions and statements of the Doc Guys.

I think Lathrop an excellent team but Maryville going be a bad matchup for them in districts.

Maryville still uses Holt's Wing T misdirection offense so defense practices against it everyday. Maryville also has the advantage in speed and depth for 4 qtrs.

Lathrop is actually faster than Maryville,by quite a bit. Lathrops challenge will be size up front plus Lathrop has over half the starting 11 going both ways, where Maryville not so much. Maryville is prolific in the pass, but you can't pass it of you don't have your offense on the field.

2003 Kearney was one of the best middle enrollment teams of all time not just in MO but probably the great plains region BUT the depth, athleticism and PHYSICALITY presented by playing all those C6 schools would have worn them down big time (still look back and cannot believe they literally had THIRTY FIVE total varsity kids on the sideline).

Doubtful as I am that the Mules can get by Maryville WHAT a job Coach Holt is doing up there! Would be very, very surprised if he doesn't take some C4-5-6 HC offer this offseason..................but that is a subject for that time LOL.

Still funny to read some of this stuff...................ancient history to me but those were some fun memories and not just the Webb games.

The post-Jones era is a major adjustment BUT K had winning seasons EVERY year including his first here....................three years in (takes time to build a program especially in C6) look what is happening at Liberty North. And, for those out there who think they know everything about HSFB, this season is far from over...............

The next one up could be in the next door neighbor PLATTE county. 2017 they took Webb down to the wire on the road. This year is a bonus.................2020 LOOK OUT for the Pirates.

We all knew Jones would have LN rolling year 3, I would put them against anyone this year. As for Maryville, 3 years ago they played Lathrop freshman on freshman. Lathrop beat them 24-6. Now they are seniors. Now I know that things change, people move, etc. I'm just giving facts. When Lamar rolled into Lathrop last year they averaged like 6'4" 320 O-line. Maryville will average like maybe 260. So they WILL be bigger, but 260 won't make Lathrop flinch.

Yes. Because week-in week out games against GOOD class 6 schedules brings attrition through injuries and just being warn down. Class 6 in KC don't get recovery games against Republic, Neosho or Ozark. Its Wee 1 Rock, Week 2 Blue Springs, week 3 Blue Springs South.

Lathrop is not running the same offense that Coach Holt ran in Maryville.

Now add in Park Hill (cannot wait to see that D in person Week 8 at Staley), improved Ray-Pec (with just a smidge of history in C5 LOL) and the Lee's Summit schools and just WOW. Folks talk about the major traditional schools Rock and BS being down I still think it really is a case of the other C6 schools being UP especially on the D side this year!

You better be three deep...and not lose much quality to make it through the season.

It's not Maryville size that gets you. This team is not a huge team, not like in years past. Where Maryville get you is they hit you like you haven't been hit all year.

Plus Lathrop will get to taste some of the Maryville playoff home cooking. Expect at least 1 TD to called back for holding.

But this is the most beatable Maryville team in many years.
