I'm looking forward to a possible district matchup between OP and Staley. That would be a natural rivalry game that IMO, should happen every year.

Now that the two are pretty much "eye to eye" as opposed to especially the first 10 years of Staley's existence I soooooo agree.

I know this... they would crush Kearney!
I haven't seen Kearney now that they are reasonably healthy but disagree. Oak Park gets off to slow starts and honestly benefitted from Marriott's wild throws into traffic. Rooney is a far better QB so that would be a close game but, of course, we will never know.

Grain Valley? Bahaha. Not with all-state athlete Theo Grace (LB), Casey Rooney QB), and the newly added all-state baseball player Jackson Helberg (LB) in the lineup. Not to mention the return of all-state athlete Grant Noland by week 8. When Grant Noland went out, even without the three above, K was en route to a turbo of Fort, who almost beat Grain Valley. With those three added in, no chance.

K didnt play the same Fort O that Gv did to begin with but it was also a week 1 matchup which is always nowhere near the ream you see in the later part of the season. Not only is GV's Defense improving every game but there offense is getting better every game as well which is downright scary. GV still has injuries on the defensive side which wont get back in the lineup til weeks 7 or 8 if i remember right.
In the end all this is for nothing as they wont play and K lost to PC who the improved GV team Dominated.
Enjoy fairy tale land with what ifs and maybe's we got real games and outcomes to discuss which are far more important

I also see Minnick is getting pretty high on his O Line. It seemed inconsistent the first three weeks but that was the gauntlet and didn't have the skill players in place back then. AGAIN the huge key once we get back to the big Kearney games is DISCIPLINE. If they clean that up the sky's the limit. I always take the "off the pace" team over one like last year shockingly going 10-0 having not really experienced the adversity needed to stay focused over the long haul.

I will actually attend half of this Friday's homecoming game not looking for anything but AVOIDING key injuries. Next big test will be Week 8 against what should be 6-1 rolling Grandview who also played aforementioned Grain Valley.

No offense to KC area C5 fans but still see nothing indicating whomever survives District 8 will have much for Webb City in the Quarterfinal. Would LOVE to be wrong but just call it as I see it much trouble as it sometimes gets me in............

WC is gonna be a task to handle for any team this year, coming out of 8 looks to be GV this year if all goes as has been. With that I believe they will host the same amount of games as WC and so it will be hosted by WC if i can read correctly lol. That stacks the deck in WC favor a bit more. I will be interested to see this game and maybe i will finally see you there. Factors i see playing into this are 1. Can WC stop the GV offense they can run with Williams and Caldarella can throw from one side of the field to the other, 2. how good is GV defense by this time of the year because they are gonna have to be good on every play not just 90% of them. 3. is the unknown who is back from injury or who has been added to the injured list at the time.

Again, K has been playing these games with a third-string JV QB, and without three of the top 5 players on the team. Two of them are back now. The 15 turnovers in the first 4 games didn't help either.

Weather and officiating didn't help, either. And MSHSAA.

Ongoing key take it from a Kearney guy: First time seeing Webb and what they do is extremely difficult ask Rockhurst 2014. This team is, in my distant opinion, not nearly that good (likely JRod's best ever) but their lines look very physical and that O system is still in place. This, so far, is a very key injury driven season. Many weeks til we really discuss this but just my observation as of today.

Last I checked, turnovers were part of the game and generally the opposing team is considered a factor in making those happen.

Last I checked, turnovers are more likley when you have a JV third string QB starting...That is a big factor considering 11 of said 15 turnovers were INTs
