I fully agree, Mt Vernon finished 5th place in the Big 8 Conference and is now in the quarters. Any of the teams in the quarters this year could win it, there are not many years at this point you can say that. No dominate team in the class, feels like the NFL as far as there is so much parity. Just a really down year for class 3 as a whole.

Personally I think your starting to see the effect of CTE brain injuries making parents decide to let their kid play other sports (soccer) or not playing at all.

Class 3 schools are the smallest class where most have both soccer and football. Going see the effects there first.

They also had Aurora over Mt Vernon, Seneca over Mt Vernon and Reeds Spring over Mt Vernon. I hope they are wrong this week too as they have Eldon over Mt Vernon.

I agree. For whatever reason, Class 3 the last couple of years has been a "Mountain of Mediocrity". The good thing about it is that many teams have a shot at the title. Unfortunately, the level of play is compromised.

Yep!
There is a young man from Joplin whose face connected with the knee of a young man from Rolla in a soccer game this season who was BADLY injured. No helmet so his concussion came with most of the bones in his face being fractured including all the damage that comes with that. There was serious concern he would lose an eye until he came out of surgery.

Looks good to me. I hope I'm wrong but I probably would take Mt. Vernon over Maryville.
