First, Har-Ber has a really nice facility, although smaller than I envisioned. Just a super nice looking press box, and an indoor practice facility. What was sorta comical was their version of a smoke show entrance - two fire extinguishers. If you're going to do it, do it right or not at all.
Har-Ber is very big on both fronts. The defensive line quickly tired in the heat, and Webb was able for the most part to get some yardage, however it was hard fought and tough going. The coaches son is all heart and really kept Webb in it until his injury.
Now, on the other side, Har-Ber's o line was extremely impressive. Their QB had all day to throw, and had a deadly accurate deep ball with a very capable lead receiver to match. For whatever reason, time and again he was able to get behind the last defender and camp out. They also had a good running back who sprung free several times, but late in the game Webb was able to corral him.
IMO, Webb was somewhat lucky to escape with the W, but make no mistake they totally earned it in a very hostile environment. The refs were not on their game. There were at least 3 late hit personal fouls, yet on many plays the whistle came very late after forward progress had been stopped, which was contridictary IMO. The late hit that was compounded by the unsportsmanlike conduct on the Webb player removing his helmet was laughable, yet costly. I saw two instances of uncalled blocks in the back on big plays for Har-Ber, but that's to be expected I guess.
It was another fun game to watch. Met several really nice Webb fans, to include a lady originally from Fort Smith which was fun. If that's Webb's down game for the year, they should have no trouble 6-peating. With all the strangeness and questionable officiating, that was a really good team they beat tonight. They won't win the title, but I bet they win more than 4 games and ruin someone's season on the West side.
