Joplin has nearly exactly the same team as last year. Their offense can play with anyone. Three year starters at QB, RB and WR are playing extremely well and have developed some since last year. But, their defense is lacking They're pretty good at getting turnovers, but otherwise can't get teams off the field.
Kirkwood is considerably worse than last year. Lines are terrible, defense is terrible. They have B+ skill positions but none are better than the Westmoreland. He wont be needed anyway, Joplin will run for 300+ again and turbo.
Isaiah Davis only had 6 carries last night (150 yards 4 TD's). I think they were trying to give him a break in preparation for this week. If I remember correctly, he ran for a ton against Kirkwood last year.
A 100% Jay Maclin is slightly better than Westmoreland, but unfortunately Maclin isn't at 100%.
I think this will be a very high-scoring game with the edge to Joplin.
if as mentioned kirkwood is worse than last year that doesn bode well for them. joplin handled them fairly easily last year and i think joplin is better...as a team...than 2018. i do think joplins lines were better in 2018 but it hasnt seemed to affect their production. im sure maclin is a great player but id take west everyday and twice on sunday. hes worth 14 points on both sides of the ball when hes playing pedestrian. looking forward to a tough game this friday.
Yeah, give me Westmoreland as well. I've only seen Maclin play against Joplin, but he had at least 4 drops that game and just didn't look that great. But, it was very cold that night.
I don't see how Kirkwood stops Joplin consistently on offense, but if Joplin's defense isn't as good as some people have said or implied then we may have a close one. The Pioneers can light it up through the air and I believe they have the most loaded wide receiving corps in the state. Joplin's secondary better be prepared or it'll be a long night.
They have both been playing football for 4 years now. Absolutely nothing besides the last Name indicates that Maclin is better than Westmoreland.

If you think Maclin is better it’s simply based off last name. Absolutely nothing you could present says otherwise.
My man....Kirkwood should have 4 L’s and they have only “lit up” the sorry teams on their schedule. They have done nothing vs quality teams outside of a miracle vs Ladue. If that game is played 10 more times Ladue win.

My man...Joplin should have 2 L's had it not been for luck from something not of this world and have only "lit up" (on both sides of the ball) not so good teams on their schedule. They've had a tougher schedule than Joplin, too. The only thing you've got is the game last year and the fact that Joplin beat Jeff City far worse.

joplin earned both those almost Ls...you make your own luck. joplin does have warts and they cant play their B game going forward and expect to keep winning big.i like joplins chances at home vs anyone in class 6 sans desmet. on the road is different story.
Joplin was definitely stronger up front on both sides of the ball last year...but..if they don’t run into a team that can exploit that they can spread the field and match up with anyone. Run defense isn’t great but pass defense is very solid.
Also it doesn’t look like anyone is as strong as CBC was last year so they have a shot.
I've actually picked Joplin to win this game but by all means draw your own conclusions and keep on asking people if they're mentally ill because of their opinions. People forget this is just high school football.

But, just to prove he's better than Maclin, Westmoreland is going to get the trifecta tonight. 1 offensive TD, 1 special teams TD and 1 defensive TD.
I like Westmoreland as much as the next guy around Joplin. That being said, the offer list isn’t even close. Maclin has multiple power 5 offers. I’m not seeing a GO5 offer even for Westmoreland. I understand these aren’t perfect and guys are missed all the time. Maclin may have his elder cousin’s name, but he has those offers for a reason.
I think the offers are lesser because of off the field issues more than on the field talent.
Yeah, from what little I've watched Kirkwood, I was more impressed with him than Maclin. I also thought Massey was better last year. But, I've only seen a couple of games.
I keep seeing this, but I have never heard of anything the kid has done wrong. I've always heard good things about him. But, I'm not exactly in the loop, lol.

If Westmoreland put up the EXACT SAME numbers for a Class 6 St Louis school he would be very highly ranked. Watch them play tonight he’s better. Guy has been a touchdown machine for years. Maclin’s offers are last name. Film is available guys.
