Joplin vs CBC game moved to 3pm on Saturday does anyone know why?

wouldn't both coaches have to agree on it? perhaps CBC requested a later time because of travel time for the team and.or..fans.

The globe said it was to allow adequate travel for CBC that morning. Sounded like it was requested by CBC and joplin didn't object.

My plan: Carthage Friday night, WC Sat at 1:00 (hopefully game in hand by half), then back over to watch Joplin vs Bama at 3:00.

Definately would of been my plan. Was very interested in seeing CBC play. I will be suffering in Great Bend busting them ducks all week!! Will try to find it online though good luck Eagles!!

Possibly true, hell more than likely true. Still, I'm guessing these young men are happy to still be playing football this Saturday rather than watching others do it..

For a Semi Final game of that distance don't MSHSAA pay for overnight stay?

Funniest thing I have read in a long time. If so, I need some back pay. Made a trip as far or further. Back to back weeks.

Ugh....that stupid phrase is right up there with the most annoying sports phrases along with:

boomer sooner
rock chalk jayhawk
war eagle
sooooie pig or however it goes
Ha, unless you are drunk with the razorback cool aid, witnessing the woo pig sooie chant in person has got to be one of the creepiest spectacles on earth.

Boomer Sooner is downright annoying but then again I find everything about OU annoying. I think it's mainly because they won a championship in 2000 or whenever and suddenly everyone in SWMO became a boisterous sooners fan.

Rock Chalk is a cool experience at least once in the Phog but we are on the wrong page to talk about that.

I actually have to agree with this statement. My first experience there was during the 93-94 season when MU rolled through the Big 8 undefeated. Unbelievable game. I've probably seen 4 or 5 games against non-Mizzou opponents there since then - Ohio State, OU, Cornell come to mind.

No love for the jayhoax, but much respect for their winning tradition and home court advantage.

You an MU student back then? Man, that was a really fun season of college hoops. My frosh year. Got lucky and got a good lottery number. Sat on the second row in B just off half court. Hearnes is sh*&hole, but I loved watching games there.

I had just graduated in 92, but went to the game with several of my college buds that still lived in town and were fellow Mizzou fans. We knew a guy in Naismith dorm that had a bunch of ku student IDs. We matched up photos the best we could then stood in line wearing neutral colors for the student section, which back then - as you know - was on the side of the court instead of where it is now behind one of the backboards on the end. When we got in, we took off our sweatshirts to reveal our Black and Gold! It was awesome.

Melvin Booker went off for 32 that game.

That's awesome! I remember that game well. Never been to a game there. But would like to. That team was fun to watch. Such an odd combo. And was one turn of Tyus Edney away from the only FF for MU.

Only sporting event I've ever been to at KU was a football game. #1Nebraska at #10KU. I'll never forget it. 41-3 drubbing of KU. Nov 11th, 1995. Watched the Tigers hoops team scrimmage. Walked out to the parking lot at Hearnes as snow starts falling. Plan was to go watch the Tigers footballers in Boulder. Drive in an absolute snow storm to KC. Stop off to see some buddies at the national FFA convention in KC. Hop back in the car and get about halfway across Kansas at about 3am and realize I-70 is freaking closed! Mind you, we've been bombing along at about 30MPH for a few hours. Haven't seen a stitch of pavement in 100 or more miles. Just going off the markers. Then bam, interstate closed. Turn around, pull into Lawrence for breakfast about 6am. Grab a paper, realize the Huskers are in town. 11am ABC national game. Think, meh, what the heck. Lets see if we can get tickets. Forecast is in the teens, with windchill in the negative 10-20 range. We get four tickets for $30 in the first dorm we hit. Run to Walmart, grab some poster board, and make a sign..."Ain't this Boulder Colorado" get it??? Fully decked in MU gear. Walk past a camerman on the way in. He takes one look at us..."Dude, what the hell?" Tell him the story...He says..."you guys are going to open the broadcast"...So when ABC comes on the air, you see us four in MU gear with our dumb sign...and Bob Griese telling our story. So stupid it was funny.

AWESOME story! You don't have that game on a VCR tape somewhere, do you? Would be cool to look back at the beginning of the game to see yourself on TV.
I wish I did. My grandpa told me about it when I called home after we got back to Columbia. We just figured the camera guy took a shot of us and that was it...But sure enough, he said Greise told the 15 second story of having to turn around in a snow storm and such. Started out like..."Everyone is here for this game of two top 10 teams...even these guys..." Something along those lines.

Don't fool yourself....MSHSAA doesn't reimburse for anything. I know a school that has played in several championships over the past 7 years and has yet to receive its first penny from MSHSAA. ZERO, zilch...natta.

Either MSHSAA has changed it's policies in last 5 years or your school admin is not doing it right for reimbursement.

I use to own school buses and contract with schools. Anytime there were state playoffs in a sport I would have to bill MSHSAA directly. They paid mileage, hourly rate for driver and had allowance for driver meals. It was like $5/$7/$9. breakfast/lunch/dinner.

I believe coaches and Administrators got same meal allowances and mileage for Admin.

And reimbursed school for lodging.

This has not been the case with us and I know early on they had several conversations about the reimbursement....with no luck. A couple years ago they attempted to stay at a cheaper hotel just outside of St; Louis to save money. MSHSAA informed us we would stay at the more expensive "Official Hotel" or they wouldn't get to play in the championship game.

This sounds SO much more believable than "Hi, its MSHSAA ... can we give you some money?!"

Speaking of MSHSAA and money — I was in South Dakota last weekend to visit a relative. We ate at a sports bar at around 2-3pm Friday. On several tv’s we’re watching a 9-man State championship football game. All weekend long I saw live State championship games (9-man and 11-man) on tv ... FREE OF CHARGE!

Free? That's a novel concept.

So true. All games were in a nice, climate controlled dome, as well. It was windy and 7 degrees Friday night when they played the 11-man AA game.
