older brother of the soph Robert's-day. he had asthma but not a doctor so wont comment on it. autopsy will reveal more in detail I'm assuming. theres more to the story and I'm guessing a lawsuit will follow. some coaches will have some explaining to do.

Damn
News said they were practicing inside because of the heat?

Makes me wonder about how thorough physicals are that student athletes have

By-Law 3.8 now allows a physical to be good under most circumstances for two years. A physical on file from last school year would be enough for this year. From the bottom of page 13 of the MSHSAA handbook.

they were exchange students, transferred in this year.

Terrible. Sounds like more of a medical problem than a negligence issue. They practiced indoors due to the heat. Absolutely aweful. Prayers to the Joplin community. He has a brother on the team ...I can't imagine what they must be going through. I'm wondering if they don't cancel the game vs Webb Friday ?

Can’t see the game being played

Kind of what I was thinking. I assume Joplin administration will have a meeting with the players and coaches and make a decision . Absolutely wouldn't blame them for not playing . Football isn't real important in the grand scheme of things

The Joplin superintendent said they were "wrestling " with playing or not . Definitely understandable. I was really looking forward to Joplin visiting Webb for the first time maybe ever? (They used to play at mssu ) but life happens and they need to do the best for their school

Several years ago Monett lost a player to a car wreck in the middle of the week right after a football practice. Alan Spencer was our coach, We were supposed to play CJ that Friday. If I remember right the mom told the boys her son would have wanted them to play so they decided to play, it was a very emotional game for all. Hard to know what 15,16,17 year olds are thinking and how they will respond to such a tragedy. I pray for all those affected by this, it is always sad when a young person loses their life unexpectedly.

I will be surprised if the game is played, especially having his twin brother having to play the game.
The community of WC is thinking and praying for Joplin!

That is really awful. I just can't imagine. This literally could have happened anywhere but of course it happens to be Joplin as if they need any more tragedy.

They said on KZRG this morning that the game would be played but who knows if that's accurate. It's sometimes hard to differentiate between what the morning news personalities on that station "know" vs what they "think".

We know one thing for sure. Kids are the most resilient people in the world. They go through, and handle more hardships in life these days than most adults. I know one thing for sure, Coach Jasper cares about his players just as much as any other coach does and would never put his kids in harms way. Whatever JHS decides, it will be best for the players and staff involved no doubt. They are the only ones who know how the players and coaches are feeling. There is no right or wrong answer in this situation. Such a sad situation for all involved. Prayers for the young man's family, JHS football staff and team as well as the whole community in Joplin.

It goes to show one never knows. Live each day to the fullest. Life has to go on.............I would bet this young man who died all toooooo soon would want that. I, for one, am pleased they rescheduled for Saturday. Just hope the best outcome for everyone involved especially his class/team mates, family and friends.
