Just remember 6-9 wins the state championship. These games dont matter anymore. Go 0-9 perfecting your craft. Who cares. Win the 6 playoff ganes and you hoist the trophy.
True but they used to matter. Every game used to matter to Webb City but maybe that changed when every game started to including things like going 1-5 vs Joplin, losing the last 2 to Nixa and 2 of the last 3 to Carthage.

Nobody in WC is saying winning isn't important! I believe it's a process. They don't want to be playing their best football in September, they want to be playing their best in November. Games vs Joplin and Nixa are bigger for those 2 teams, then it is for WC! WC is the standard and they get everyone's best shot every year because who they are! There's teams in the COC who have NEVER beaten them! Think about that, think about Republic last year beating them! If you asked every team in the COC if you only win 1 game who do you want it to be, the majority of them will say WC because they are WC!

Lamar is the same way, just smaller class!

For a lot of teams these are exhibition games. For some teams their district seed is important

It was in the past but is that still the case? I was at Nixa's Sr night and each senior listed their best moment from their career at Nixa. A few kids mentioned beating Webb City for the first time ever but by far the most common response was beating Joplin. I can tell you in Carthage, Nixa is really the team they are looking at in most sports as the 'one' they want to get.

The team to beat is not who had a big run a few years ago it's who is on top right now. I think that will again be WC but right now it's not.

Go ask your starting DE's Dad who he would rather beat!

Totally agree. But a Webb City player said in an interview last night that they are treating this game with Joplin as a "State Championship" ..Webb City is fired up. This has got to be one of the biggest rivalries in the State

I heard several players in Nixa say that Joplin was their favorite game.

That's unpossible. webb is the center of the universe.

at least the universe south of I-70.

Which is funny because if you look at districts the game is much more important to Joplin.

Heard several people say in Nixa that their goal is to beat the "Three Headed Monster Out West" .. the announcers for Nixa's live stream say that several times as well.

Yea, true. Nixa is on pace to be at the top. Joplin is basically starting their tough schedule tonight. Kickapoo should win the rest of their games so they will be in the mix at the top.

The one constant is Webb. The other teams go up and down. Joplin's 8th and 9th grade classes are weak. Last week both of CJs junior high teams beat both of Nixa's

I don’t put too much stock in JH football.

The 2008-09 Thayer Bobcat seniors went to state back to back years and lost to Orrick, and they were absolutely terrible in 7th and 8th grade both. Might have won 2 of their 12 JH games and then they get to HS and make back to back trips to the dome to finish out their prep careers.

A colleague I work with confirms what you are saying. Not much after this sophomore class. So maybe 2 more years of good Joplin football.
