Joplin at Carthage...... Who ya got?

I wouldn't be surprised if joplin won(they have the players) but Carthage is really good. they've got a ground game and air attack. joplin will make too many mistakes again and lose by 14.

Interesting game. Like the seven points as it should be relatively close. cTOWN has had two pretty easy victorys while Joplin has had to face WEBB. Joplin has the horses up front and a pretty decent QB. Their main man #1 Westmoreland is a very athletic do everything. Receiver, returner and great cover guy. WEBB was fortunate enough for him to gas a little and Joplin to for whatever reason not use him much in the 3rd quarter. #29 and #21 impressed me with their attack of the football. Not having seen cTOWN and only seeing their scores and comments following the games I like the Eagles by a score maybe two. Have these two faced each other in the past?

I think this might be the best match up in the COC. We will learn more about how this conference might shake out after Friday night. I liked Joplin's line play even though they couldn't contain Webb, they were big, strong and fast. Joplin over Carthage by 7.

Really hard game to predict, kind of a toss-up in my mind depending on mistakes and turnovers. Joplin handled Willard and played better than most can against Webb. Carthage with lopsided wins over what I think are average teams. Carthage D is very good but I think Joplin’s lethal mix of running and passing could expose a weakness. On paper these teams look pretty well matched. If Carthage plays a bit sloppy like they did at CJ then Joplin could very well move to 2-1. Otherwise I’ll go with Carthage in a close shootout.

Not sure when/if JHS has played Carthage. I am told that back in the day, Parkwood was often the first game on the schedule and it was a tough one.

I think this can be a great game IF Joplin puts last Friday behind them. They put a lot of mental and physical energy into WC. Let’s see if they can bounce back.

they played back in the late 90s...I believe.

If it were at Junge, I would take the Eagles, but with it being at Carthage, I will give the hometown team the advantage by a TD or less in this one.

How will the heavy rains affect this game? I would think it will slow down the passing games and make this a ground and pound game with several turnovers. Which teams game is better suited to handle these conditions?

Both teams are very similar. I think they will trade scores entire game with the team scoring last the victor.....

Does anyone have a link for audio or video stream for this game? It's not looking like I'll be able to make it. I don't think KDMO streams video anymore and the audio never works or at least I can't figure it out! Does Joplin have a better setup with JET or anything?

Jet usually streams it live on their Facebook page

Just FYI the Carthage school district sent out some updated guidelines regarding football games - mainly cracking down on students in common areas during the game. Seems like WC tried this years ago and eventually gave up at least to some degree. The problem I suspect they are addressing is all the middle school-ish aged kids that aren't really mature enough to be left to their own devices but many parents do it anyway for various reasons. Part of me thinks why bother fighting that battle - this group of kids is incredibly annoying to wade through to the concession area but at least they are there with friends instead of at home playing video games. But I also don't blame admin for cracking down given the overly litigious society and many people's unwillingness to accept any responsibility for the consequences of their actions/inactions.

That’s pretty sad some of my fondest memories of Friday nights actually happens before I was old enough to play on the field. You kids quit being kids over there!!

Not a chance for Joplin.
Yeah it sure looked like Carthage was the the superior team. Not to make it about Webb City though but I do wonder if Joplin had a little post WC game hangover as well. Last week was probably as big a game as Joplin had in years. I’m not counting the games vs Rock or Blue Springs in which Joplin was overmatched.

Time will tell but it looks like the COC. This year is Webb City and Carthage, then Joplin clearly back a notch and I think everyone else a notch below Joplin.

When asked about prepping for WC last week on local radio Jasper told them they had special WC specific periods throughout the offseason contact days and preseason camp. It’s really had to put that much mental and physical effort into one specific team, come up short, then regroup to play a very very good opponent.

Its a complete waste of time. Hacw designated areas for roaming midlle schoolers. Make it a big area. And let them roam.

I would

rather have them running wild behind the stadium than in it. Let kids be kids unless they do something terribly stupid then deal with it

The space is plenty big enough and it really doesn't seem like a huge problem to me. I think the district is mainly concerned about the wrong kid getting hurt and then the parents sue the district. Seems like too many parents are all too eager to sue school districts these days.

Unfortunately, all districts are right to be concerned, but that is what our society has come to. I curse the trial lawyers but they all claim that lawyers are only a reflection of the society they serve. I still believe we would be better off with twice as many health professionals and half or less of the number of lawyers we have.
I remember all those little guys running around playing tag football until they were old enough to graduate to water boys and asst. equipment managers. Next steps were junior high football, freshman ball and eventually varsity. There was just something orderly about the process and the rites of passage. Sorry to wax nostalgic on you guys but I do miss the "good old days"!

Dude your exactly right, let the kids be kids. They’re going to love the experience even more if they get to be with there friends and don’t have mommy or daddy hovering over them giving them a lolipop

How often are school districts actually sued by parents,,,and how often is there a judgement against the district???

I don't know but people get settlements and judgements for idiotic things all the time these days. That's just our culture... something bad happens, find someone else to blame and get rich.

Usually settled and paid off by insurance before judgment. Don't know the answer to the first question but it doesn't matter how often if you are the one sued.

Joplin looked bad. They Played much harder against Webb ( much). They played with zero emotion. The Def is not good but the eagles seem to be fully commited to a the 4 man front while teams run the ball down there throats! The qb is not seeing the field well right now at all, throws were the receiver will/should be but..... webb and carthage sit in zones (good coaching by both) he throws right at the def. but story is bad bad def. No emotion by kids and the coaches frankly are getting schooled, not good adjustments if any. It was tough to watch. I will say i know weather was bad but Joplin had as many fans there as Carthage. Their stands were 75% empty.

Nice job Carthage! Best wishes heading into week 4 at Neosho.

p.s. Free the kids. Let those future Tigers roam free.

Joplin, Joplin, Joplin.

According to the Globe, the only time Carthage didn't score was when they turned the ball over. And Carthage was able to stop Joplin on downs, a few times.

Maybe Carthage was just the better TEAM.

That cannot be, either Joplin had a huge let down from playing the mighty Webb City or it was the weather, never has Carthage truly been the better team.
