Last night's score was very surprising for a lot of Class 6 fans in KC! I thought this would finally be the year JC got back into the discussion for making a run after so many years of mediocrity (compared to the Pete years).

Last night's score shocked me...not that the Jays got beat but they fact they they only scored 7 points. I saw them put up 60 plus on Roc Bridge and then they put up 59 the next week vs. a very good CBC team.

They are not real big up front and are lacking on defense...but i thought their skill players on offense were VERY good when I saw them play.

Good thing is that their district is weakest of all. Their district is truly up for grabs and everyone is 0-0

They haven't been relevant since about 1998. Too many coaches and administrators consider an 8-4 or a 7-5 season to be a great success. They haven't had more than 9 wins in a season since 1999. Used to be anything less than 10 wins was considered a down year. Average is now considered acceptable. Very sad, and a terrible blow to long-time fans.

November 15, 1999.

The day JC football turned.....

I watched that game live. I never saw a Rockhurst team do whatever they wanted vs JC. It was 38-0. In the state semis.

JC has been extremely average since. Laguna is correct. It's sad to see. Best games I ever played I were vs the Jays....

Ironically at about the same time, Blair Oaks went from a Tri-County Conference bottom feeder to a state powerhouse. Jays decline with Blair Oaks rise. You can come with your own conclusion.

Not sure I buy into the Blair Oak comment. Helias has made runs since the last time Jeff City was there. Jeff City is still probably twice the size of the above mentioned schools put together. I wasn't trying to stir the pot about how a Class 3 school is stealing all the good players from a previous perennial power. I simply thought with the way JC was putting points on the board, they may finally make a long past due run at the championship.

Uuummmmm I think BS is pretty banged up right now! Considering all other districts, they are in the weakest like I said. Funny how we do not hear from the great CEO until Rockhurst is winning.
I wouldn't count BS dead just yet. There is a good possibility that they will have Ivey back the week of Jeff City. That along with Cowling (Started 10 games last year) having 2 games under his belt should go along way. Defense is the same that only gave up 7 points to Rockhurst. Should be a good game.

JC still has to get by BSS. South has had its issues but they can still play defense.

They did have success early, but hit a tough spot in the season. JC played CBC tough and have the talent to compete. Playing at home this week could help them get back in track. I would like to see them get back to the glory days.
I don't want to knit pick but I wouldn't say giving up 50-60 points as playing tough. They didn't look very good against Rock either. I will go out on a limb and say if BS has its #1 running back back when JC (if they get past BSS) comes to town they wont win that game.

I don't disagree, but they did only lose by 6 and put up 59 against the #1 ranked team. By tough I meant close....not in the trenches tough.

Blue Springs South won't be a pushover and could very well beat them. Much tougher overall schedule. They beat Staley and Ray Pec. Also only gave up 14 to the team that dropped 49 on JC.

I have little doubt that if JC would have played BS or BSS's schedule they would not have been 5-4.

Not sure of the problem with the defense, but all four losses they gave up 54, 65, 40, and 49 points.. I'm sure part of it is it's size up front, but they have good speed and talent in the secondary I'm starting to think coaching & scheming is the problem!

Definitely losing Coach Cole hurt the defense. Up front they are small and not fast defensively

Coach Cole was/is a great coach. Coach LePage is a great coach and I am sure he will get things corrected.
