Jefferson 75 - Dora 65

Jefferson knocked off a very strong C3 Maryville early in the season.................that program rolls on. Congrats to them!

That school reminds me of the movie "Hoosiers" Haven't been there in a few years but the gym is like going back in time. Did they every build new one?

The old Coffey gym was epic, too. Always heard Martinsville's was a classic but I never got to cover a game there. And, heading to a foreign country, the gym at Lineville (IA) was, unique, to use a big word. (ha)

Coach Jermain always does a great job. Chase Farnan was the the difference in the game. Dora just didn't have an answer for him. He had a big impact on both ends. Jefferson's guards handled Dora's pressure well too. Dora's skill level was impressive for sure too. Rematch next year?

My main reason for predicting that Jefferson would take them in the title game was how young Dora is.

On the same token, I can almost guarantee that Dora will be back next year because of.... how young they were this year.

Ever been to Leopold? Old-time gym. Even have a balcony and that was an addition a while back.

I played there in HS a couple of times. Tile floor and several of their players had ace bandages wrapped from ankle to knees. They didn't have much hops as you would expect from guys with dead lower legs. I'm glad I didn't have to play there every day for practice and games. They always had a couple Elfrink's, Nenninger's and Eftink's. Good German community who had a great summer picnic which people from all over came too. Lesterville's old gym was quite the quaint place with a balcony as well. The Schell City gym had a basket support on a stage where their young boys would shake the basket support vigorously on all opposing free throw attempts. Their administrators seemed ok with it.

dora will NOT be back next year. The top 4 kids won't be there next year. just wait.

Aren't the top 4 kids siblings?

Three of them are triplets whose father is the coach and principal if I understand correctly.

Their top player is Haney, whose sisters were both basketball players at West Plains and one of them played at Harding in college.

The Haney kid actually grew up in the West Plains rural school district if I’m correct, but chose to go to Dora to play with his friends and to be fast tracked to varsity at a smaller school.

Other schools officials can report fishy transfers and things of that nature and bring them to MSHSAAs attention. And when it comes to public schools that aren’t in “open enrollment” cities, they tend to crack down from my experience

Well we all know what happened the last time a big time transfer came into Kickapoo. He was the best player on the chiefs team and he had to play J.V. and sit during varsity because of MSHSAA intervening.

The Martinsville gym was unique. The top of the metal, fan shaped backboards went into the ceiling. Home court rule.....the ceiling was not out of bounds on a shot attempt. Those locals could bank it in off the ceiling. You could not shoot a normal arched shot outside of 10' without hitting the ceiling.

Haney will do a physical move. The Kirk player at Kickapoo had 2 transfers in HS. that is what red flagged him to MSHSAA. triplets will follow their dad who is in search of a new admin job.

Does Haney live in the Dora school district or in the West Plains district?

They have several rural K-8 districts who can choose to go to several different close high schools. I suppose they have to choose after 8th grade like the state requires.

Once a kid makes his choice of high schools, he or she would be ineligible to transfer to any of the high schools of choice. The family could move to another district and be eligible.

Maybe we have a " Eligibility Scholar " who could weigh in on the above.

I believe that hoopsquad is right.

I’ve heard that Haney will be going to Kickapoo and his parents will be moving into that district.

And that Coach Luna of Dora and his 3 sons will be going to Mountain Grove next year with Luna taking over at Mt Grove with Coach Hiler stepping down. He’s been doing just basketball at mt Grove the last few years.

Had heard the rumor of a transfer by Haney, but had not heard Kickapoo. If that does happen it would be interesting to see how he fits in with them. It will also be interesting to see where the triplets end up.
