I guessing the Jays will say good bye to Class 6 football in 2019- 20 as both schools to have 1200-1400 students each.

In the 2019-2020 school year, the second high school will only have around 700 kids because it will only be Freshman and Sophomores. In the 2020-2021 school year it will have around 1000 students, because it will be Freshman, Sophomore, and Juniors. They both won't actually be evenly split until the 2021-2022 school year. So the current Jefferson City High School will still have 3 years of Class 6 football, because that first year their enrollment will still be around 1900 students. The second year it would be Class 5 with around 1600 students. The third year both would be the enrollments you're saying in your post, putting both borderline Class 4 and Class 5. Enrollment numbers between the two middle schools are basically the same, and that's how they will divide the high schools. So estimated enrollments for both high schools when all said and done, will be as jcpasser12 said, between 1200 and 1400. Enrollment numbers figure to climb, but I don't ever see the high school enrollment between the two ever being more than 2800 students, at least for the near future.
Other sports will be different because they're still doing two year cycles, football is moving to one year cycles after the 2017-2018 year.

I wonder if the old Central Missouri Conference will rise up again - JC, JC #2, Battle, Hickman, Rock Bridge and Smith-Cotton?
I think it's a great possibility that the CEMO will be back after 40 years but not sure about Sedalia will be in the mix.

The district lines will be based off of the middle schools. Thomas Jefferson Middle School sits on the west side of Jeff City, Lewis & Clark Middle School sits on the east side of Jeff City. Thomas Jefferson will feed into the new high school, and Lewis & Clark will feed into the existing high school. East, Moreau Heights, Cedar Hill, North, Callaway Hills, and half of Thorpe Gordon feed into Lewis & Clark. Lawson, West, Belair, South, Pioneer Trail, and the other half of Thorpe Gordon feed into Thomas Jefferson. The enrollments of the the two middles schools is relatively the same, with Thomas Jefferson being a little bigger. Based on future enrollment numbers of the elementary schools, Thomas Jefferson will always be a little bigger. Each middle school is about the same in racial make up and economic make up. Both have about 60% free and reduced lunch, with both projected to climb in this area as well.
Basically with the numbers I figured from DESE enrollment numbers, the new high school will be a Class 5 school with an enrollment of 1350-1450. The existing high school will be possibly Class 4 with an enrollment of 1250-1350.

Sedalia paper had something about looking to start a conference with the Columbia schools and I assume the 2 Jeff City schools will be involved.

Jeff City
JC2
Rock Bridge
Hickman
Battle
Smith-Cotton
Helias

Would make a pretty good conference.

Smith-Cotton has reached out about forming a conference because of the demise of the WCC.

It would be a good conference. Idk if S-C would compete for awhile, but logistically and size wise it makes sense.

By the way Bubba, Sedalia and Smith-Cotton are the same ;)

My mistake, reading too fast or not fast enough.

Gets me every time.

Thanks

The old CEMO conference broke up after 1977 football season . Only four schools by then....Jeff City, Columbia Hickman, Sedalia Smith-Cotton, Hannibal, and at one point, Rolla was a member. JC & Hickman got to big to continue a competive conference.

Helias and Fr. Tolton High School in Columbia will be joining the St. Louis Archdiocesan Athletic Association (AAA) Conference. in 2018

Yes and I'm sure given the choice Helias would rather drive 4 hours round trip to and from St. Louis every other week instead of staying within 30 minutes of Jeff City most of the season...sarcasm off...
