Now this is a place that takes their football seriously! The range of a few districts where the head coach is not in the building or even in the district, to the ones like this where they make things happen for the right coach! That is taking their athletics seriously and realizing the impact a coach and program can have on the entire community.

Just like at Ampipe back in the 80s!!

You got that right!! Coach Nickerson had a big impact on our community. Both good and bad. But what this post doesnt recognize, is the impact a booster club has on a program and entire community. Coaches come and go. Get run outta town. You know the drill. But booster clubs, we're here forever!

Ah yes. I will always remember that night. Do you know how many tickets Walnut Heights gave us!?!? I had to stand along the fence with the rest of the Ampipe faithful. This was very early in my booster club president career. You better believe Walnut Heights ALWAYS gave us more tickets after this one!!

Kinda rare in this day of data collection and test score nerds. Refreshing viewpoint. It's almost like this stuff we do ain't really rocket science.

At some places, teachers complain about how much coaches are paid. They have no idea the amount of time a coach, at least a good one, puts in. Those teachers are the ones who don't do anything else but teach., and that's ok. But those are also the ones who show up right before they are supposed to and leave at the exact moment, or before, they can. They want to complain because a coach makes more than they do. Not realizing that coach may coach multiple sports, or supervise the weight room, or any other extra duties that those that complain don't do. Coaches can be just as important, if not more, than teachers in many instances.

Bosko- we have patched things up since then, since I went on to bigger and better things. BUT- if we hold onto the ball in the last 12 seconds, I wonder what I would have been able to do as Head Coach to a certain Booster Club position. I was watching my documentary of my Minnesota State doc last night and remembered that I owned everything at MSU, including the Athletic Director.

"Do as Head Coach to a certain Booster Club position?" Good luck there, Coach! Ampipe knows what happens if you give a head coach too much power. Just look at Coach Rush Propst!!

So things went south with us back in 1983! I learned a lot and Im sure you did as well. But in the end, I am glad we found MoSports. It gave us a place to come together, with fellow Doc Guys, and patch things up.
