Jackson achieves top overall Missouri team ranking in MaxPreps

Dominating performance in championship game AND being one of only two undefeated teams in the state pushed them up over Ray-Pec.
MaxPreps rankings

13 of 14 games had a running clock, what a fantastic season. May not be the best team of all time, but has there ever been a team that was so dominating the whole season, and never closely contested?

Kearney 2003, Centralia 2003, Cameron 2005, Blair Oaks 2018, Lamar had a team or two. There have been some really dominating bigger schools but not like Jackson this year, it's just harder to running clock almost every school at a bigger school. Competition across the board is just better and more balanced.

I do think Jackson is the best team in the state, not sure they would dominate like that if they played Class 6. But nonetheless they were really good and I have nothing but respect for what they did this year. Also congrats to Coach Eckley, one of the most underrated coaches in the state.

talking about Parkwood?
Regarding Joplin Parkwood and dominant teams. From the Joplin Globe.
“Parkwood’s statistics reflected the Bears’ domination, outscoring their opponents by a 653-33 margin and averaging 365 yards per game compared to the opponents’ 112 yards.” I think this was before the turbo clock rule?

What year was this?

Kearney 2003. We have had two great HC stints (Thomas now at Odessa and Jones now at Liberty North) the past two decades BUT will never see a team like that at least in my lifetime I feel very confident.

I was thinking 1976, but I could be wrong. It’s been awhile since I was looking at all of that. Parkwood and Memorial both had some good squads back then.
Joplin Parkwood 1980.............perhaps the best team ever in MO (Jeff City under Adkins and Rock under Sev could argue a year or two).

4
Windsor and let’s give Odessa their due.
Windsor-Mid Buch was one of the best Class 1 games I've literally ever seen. I know Valle Catholic has had the most dominant ones in that class over the years BUT this past Saturday was very high quality FB. Especially both QBs.

Jackson
779 Points on O
Allowed 165 points
Game point differential: 44 points

Kearney 2003
735 points on O
Allowed 89 points on D. (27 scored by NFL Tampa Bay Buc Josh Freeman of Grandview)
Game point differential: 46 points
Every game a turbo clock. Beat Webb 43-0 in semi and state title game 44-0

Pretty sure most of those points were garbage points in the 4Q against JV.

That Kearney team had Tommy Saunders and Brock Christopher. Both multi-year starters on good MU teams. But I've heard there were two other players better than them. Tophat might know who they are. One guy that was the best of them didn't play college ball.

Joplin Parkwood 1970, led by qb Alan Cockrell. Varsity d gave up 0 pts until state championship game v hazlewood central. Avg over 50 per game during their state championship season.

There was a Valle team in the 90s that beat St Gen by about 5 tds and St Gen won class 3. I think they beat everyone by HUGE margins. Jeremy Hoog was the QB of that team.
I remember those teams, they were very good. Farmington was a semi-finalist in 91 and they beat them pretty handily as well. Those teams were great, Hoog was really good. Think of the numbers he could have thrown for nowadays. I remember hearing about the team they had in the late 60's, unscored upon. Matt Haug was the QB if I am not mistaken.

80 or 81?
1980. Qb, cockrell started at Tennessee as a freshman, tupper dt started for OU 1985 national championship, two went to okie state , 2 or 3 to mo southern, pitt ect. D coordinator said their avg 40 time on d was 4.8. Cockrell also punted and kicked. 50 yd fg in pre game at Bush stadium.

I'm pretty sure the turbo clock was around before 2012 for football, although basketball came on later.

Go here and read the MSHSAA 2012 Football Manual for yourself.
Section E, #10 is where you will find the answer to when the running clock was adopted by the MSHSAA Football Advisory Committee.

Here it is in its entirely. Where does it spell out when it was adopted again?

10. Point Differential: Point differential applies to all football contests. The National Federation's Football Rules Committee made a change in playing rules which permit state associations to adopt a "running clock" when a point differential is attained. The Football Advisory Committee, with approval of the Board of Directors, has approved the following plan for all football playing schools for all levels:

After the first half, any time the score differential reaches 35 points or more for 11-man or 45 points or more for 8-man, the following changes (and only these changes) will be made regarding rules determining when the clock will be stopped:

The clock will be stopped when:
a. An official's time-out is called, except:
1) when a first down is declared;
2) following a change of team possession; or
3) to dry or change the game ball.
b. A charged time-out is called
c. At the end of a period
d. A score occurs
Note: The clock will continue to run in all other situations.
Note: The use of this rule does not preclude the use of Rule 3-1-3 which reads: "A period or periods may be shortened in any emergency by agreement of the opposing coaches and the referee. By mutual agreement of the opposing coaches and the referee, any remaining period may be shortened at any time or the game terminated."

I'm like the other poster. I recall running clocks before this.

It's the same paragraph in the 2007 manual, but I can't find a 2006 or earlier manual, so it had to have started at least by 2007, or earlier.

The current Winnetonka HC was a superstar. Local TV called them "Benny and the Jets". The RB was a hoss, too. There were star power players all over that team.

That would’ve been Phil McKracken, who now runs an underground black market teddy bear factory in Guatemala.
WRONG: That factory is in COSTA RICA. Geez wish Raw would do his homework!

I wasn't here until November 2007. Back then would have been Floray..........

I went to only 2-3 regular season games that year because they were such terrible mismatches. The one real scare was the first half of the Hickman Mills game. Kearney only led 14-6 at the half but did their thing in the second. Almost all the regular season and playoff games the starters did all the scoring first half then subs just kinda ran out the string in the second.
